Morning Coffee 8/25/14 Flashback The Beatitudes: The Humble (meek) are Blessed

God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.” (Matthew 5:5 NLT)

Jesus is continuing His Sermon on the Mount, He now speaking about those who remain humble.

In other translations of the Bible in Matthew 5:5 (like the NIV, and ASV) the word meek is used in place of humble. Since we have been on humility over the past few days, let’s, start there. I did a little more digging and research, on this verse. And it takes humility to another level. I read John Gills commentary on this scripture. (Link is at the bottom) Humility or meekness is supposed to flow from us. In this life we are going to run into some people that don’t have the best people skills, or look out for our best. They may stab us in the back (figuratively speaking) and our flesh may want to rise up and get that person back but we will have to humble our self and let God handle it. We may have to learn from a follow believer that is mean and rough around the edges. We will still have to be humble and receive what God wants us to learn from them. Being Humble means to think of others higher than yourself no matter how much skill you have. Don’t look at humility as if you are lying down and letting people run over you. No if anything it will make you stronger. You will be able to receive more and grow more. And at the end of our time hear on earth our inheritance won’t be of this world but of God’s Kingdom. “God blesses those who are humble, for they will inherit the whole earth.” (Matthew 5:5 NLT)

I know this is all easier said than done but by humbling our self we won’t have to learn lessons the hard way. In all you do be humble and meek. And watch and see how blesses you, you will gain so much more.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 8/17/14 flash back     Follow Me

“One day as Jesus was walking along the shore of the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers—Simon, also called Peter, and Andrew—throwing a net into the water, for they fished for a living.  Jesus called out to them, “Come, follow me, and I will show you how to fish for people!”    And they left their nets at once and followed him. A little farther up the shore he saw two other brothers, James and John, sitting in a boat with their father, Zebedee, repairing their nets. And he called them to come, too.  They immediately followed him, leaving the boat and their father behind.” (Matthew 4:18-22 NLT)

Yes I know you may have heard and read this passage of scripture multiple times. But there is a reason you are reading this today. So before we continue drop the “I heard this before!” attitude. And open you heart and mind to what the Lord wants you to receive!

Ok!  Simon ( a.k.a.Peter), Andrew, James, And John have abandoned the family businesses to follow Jesus. Let’s put things into perspective. These four men have just left their jobs, there main source of income, to follow Christ! That just blows my mind! But when God calls you, you answer. You see these events were already laid out. Long before these first four disciples were born, it was already stitched into their DNA that they would be Disciples of Christ. “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he  predestined us for adoption to sonship  through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will” (Ephesians 1:4-5 NLT)

God saw fit to call you into His service. There are ministries He has planted in you that He will use bless others and bring Glory to His Name. Don’t stress about how these ministries will come about. When the time is right God will call you to do what He has placed In you. Some of these things you may already know, others are waiting to be un locked. And when He does call you out it won’t be because of anything you did. When He calls you, you will know it and you will follow!

Morning Coffee Flashback 8/2/14 Pretty Enough To Take You Down

“Then Delilah pouted, “How can you tell me, ‘I love you,’ when you don’t share your secrets with me? You’ve made fun of me three times now, and you still haven’t told me what makes you so strong!”  She tormented him with her nagging day after day until he was sick to death of it. Finally, Samson shared his secret with her. “My hair has never been cut,” he confessed, “for I was dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. If my head were shaved, my strength would leave me, and I would become as weak as anyone else.” Delilah realized he had finally told her the truth, so she sent for the Philistine rulers. “Come back one more time,” she said, “for he has finally told me his secret.” So the Philistine rulers returned with the money in their hands.  Delilah lulled Samson to sleep with his head in her lap, and then she called in a man to shave off the seven locks of his hair. In this way she began to bring him down, and his strength left him. Then she cried out, “Samson! The Philistines have come to capture you!” When he woke up, he thought, “I will do as before and shake myself free.” But he didn’t realize the Lord had left him.” (Judges 16:15-20 NLT)

We all have it.  It’s called an alkalis heel, that one thing that captivates our flesh. In Sampson’s case it was women. He was so captivated by her that he did not see the many warning signs. By the time he realized what happen it was too late.

We all have a weak spot, we are not impenetrable. But God beading as gracious as He is, will send us warning signs that we are getting our self into something that can take us out. Sampson got his first warning from his mother and father. (Read Judges 14) Sampson didn’t take head to his parents warning. Little did he know that his desire for the beautiful philistine women would be his downfall. Sampson lost his anointing the same way the philistine’s solved his riddle. His wife kept begging and nagging until he gave up his secret. With his first wife it cost him a riddle but with Delilah it cost him so much more.

The enemy will attack us where we fell before. We need to take note of the pattern in which we are tempted. Take note of the things that attract us. It may not be something as big as lust for the opposite sex. It could be something as simple as playing tennis. Whatever it is, if it draws you away from God, it is pretty enough to take you down.

Morning Coffee Revisited 10/11/14 Why Are You Listening To The People? (Are They God?)

“Then Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the  lord ’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded.  But now, please forgive my sin and come back with me so that I may worship the lord .” But Samuel replied, “I will not go back with you! Since you have rejected the lord ’s command, he has rejected you as king of Israel.” As Samuel turned to go, Saul tried to hold him back and tore the hem of his robe.  And Samuel said to him, “The  lord  has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to someone else—one who is better than you.  And he who is the Glory of Israel will not lie, nor will he change his mind, for he is not human that he should change his mind!” Then Saul pleaded again, “I know I have sinned. But please, at least honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel by coming back with me so that I may worship the lord your God.”  So Samuel finally agreed and went back with him, and Saul worshiped the lord. (1 Samuel 15:24-31 NLT)

Good Morning or afternoon or what time of day you are reading this! We are back in 1 Samuel 15 Saul Has just confessed his sin and now he is beginning to reap the consequences.

Saul valued the opinions of the people more than he valued God’s commands. Saul did not completely destroy the Amalekites as he was instructed to do. He keep the best spoils and spared king Agag. Because of his disobedience Saul lost his anointing as king God had choose another.

Saul said he was afraid of the people, why fear them and do what they demand, are they God? When God gives you specific instructions, you carry them out to the finest detail! Pay no mind to anyone that tells you anything contrary to what God told you to do! We sometimes put way to much value in people,

We can be on the right track, doing what God told us to do. And people will say “no do it this way” at that moment we need to disregard what they are saying and continue with what God told us to do. People are not God, we should never fear or respect anyone more than God.

Disobedience to God is costly, in saul’s case it cost his his anointing as king. He put the people above God and he reaped the consequences! Don’t fear and respect anyone more than you fear and respect God. Why Are You Listening To The People? Are They God?

Morning Coffee Revisited 3/1/15 God Don’t Owe You! (We Are Not Entitled!)

“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16 NLT)

Hello family! Have you ever done something God asked you to do then looked up to God and said, “I did my part! Where’s my blessing?” I have had that attitude a few times. I thought I was in the right. But I was truly wrong to think like this! Yes, God does bless us when we are obedient, but that does not mean He owes us! We owe Him obedience! We owe Him our lives! We surrender one Hundred percent of ourselves to Him. God gave His son as a sacrifice out of His love for us! He saw how messed up and jacked up we were! He saved us! We can’t save ourselves! We owe God! God does not owe us!

We Are Not Entitled!

Morning Coffee Revisited: 9/29/14 Addicted!

Don’t you realize that you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.  Thank God! Once you were slaves of sin, but now you wholeheartedly obey this teaching we have given you.  Now you are free from your slavery to sin, and you have become slaves to righteous living. (Romans 6:16-18 NLT)

Good day family I pray you are in good spirits.  Life can really beat us up. Situations and problems arise that sometimes causes us to seek refuge and relief from other sources other than God. We can get addicted to these earthly sources of relief. For me it was pornography, for you it may be something else like food, drugs, TV.  Anything can become an addiction, it does not have to be the “big three” (sex, drugs, alcohol).

An addiction of this world can never be satisfied, its hunger will never stop. The more we feed the addiction the stronger it gets, It will pull us further and further away from the One we should be addicted to, and that is Jesus Christ. “Then God gave the people all these instructions: “I am the lord your God, who rescued you from the land of Egypt, the place of your slavery. “You must not have any other god but me. (Exodus 20:3 NLT)

Anything that pulls us away from God is a sin. If we do not turn from it, it will lead to destruction. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23 NLT)

There is freedom from the addictions of this earthly life. Christ offers that freedom to us, He was crucified for our sins then three days later rose with all power so that we would not have to go to hell when we die. All we have to do is accept him as Lord of our life. . “For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.  God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. “There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him. But anyone who does not believe in him has already been judged for not believing in God’s one and only Son. And the judgment is based on this fact: God’s light came into the world, but people loved the darkness more than the light, for their actions were evil. All who do evil hate the light and refuse to go near it for fear their sins will be exposed. But those who do what is right come to the light so others can see that they are doing what God wants. ” (John 3:16-21 NLT)

My friend Christ is knocking at the door of your heart. All you have to do is let him in. “If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.  As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.”    For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him,  for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (Romans 10:9-13 NIV)

Come and pray with me even if you were once with Christ and strayed away. You can comeback. Just cry out to Jesus, you don’t need big words, just and open heart to let Christ in. Let’s pray. Lord I know I have sinned against you. I know you have died on the cross for my sins and rose again. I need you I’m sorry for sinning against you. Please Lord; forgive me I will follow all the days of my life in Jesus name Amen!

If you just prayed that prayer you are now a follower of Christ welcome to the family of God. If it was re dedication welcome back! I want to encourage you to find a bible based church. Talk to God he is listening, He hears you, He is now your addiction. Ask him to give you good Christian friends I warn you your old addiction will still try and rise up. You may stumble and fall but you get back up repent ask God to forgive you and turn back to God. Don’t go back to the places that trigger that addiction. Ask god to completely change your Habits, He has and is still doing it for me. So He will do it for you!

If you need prayer I am here leave a comment in the comments section or email me at I will pray for you!

Morning Coffee Revisited 9/11/14 The Importance Of Obedience

“Then Moses raised his hand and struck the rock twice with the staff, and water gushed out. So the entire community and their livestock drank their fill. But the  lord  said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust me enough to demonstrate my holiness to the people of Israel, you will not lead them into the land I am giving them!” (Numbers 20:11-12 NLT)

Here we are in Numbers chapter 20:11-12. Let me give you some back story before we continue. The children of Israel are camped out at kedish (in what is now modern day Syria) There was no water for them to drink and the people began to complain to Moses and Aaron, they wished they never left Egypt. So Moses and Aaron went and sought after God on what to do. The Lord told them to gather all the people take the staff and speak to the rock. (read Numbers 20:3-8)

Moses and Aaron let their frustration get the best of them, Moses took matters into his own hand and struck the rock instead of speaking to it as God instructed and Aaron went along with it. Their disobedience cost them the opportunity to go into the promise land.

There are three things we can take away from this. 1. Don’t let your emotions cause you to sin against God “And “don’t sin by letting anger control you.”  Don’t let the sun go down while you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.” (Ephesians 4:26-27 NLT) Moses was pressured by the children of Israel and he allowed his frustration to cause him to sin. He acted out of himself instead of operating in the spirit of God.

  1. Remember who is in command. Yes you may be frustrated but God has given you specific instructions on how to handle the situation. God was merciful on Moses and Aaron, He still allowed water to flow from the rock despite their disobedience.
  2. Accountability. Aaron was with Moses when God gave them His instructions. He did not stop Moses from striking the rock; he went right along with his brother. He knew what God instructed them to do. But just like his brother he was caught up in the moment. He could have held his brother accountable. Aaron was Moses second in command. And he failed to keep his brother accountable to Gods instruction. “Dear brothers and sisters, if another believer is overcome by some sin, you who are godly should gently and humbly help that person back onto the right path. And be careful not to fall into the same temptation yourself. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:1-2 NLT)

My brothers and my sisters do not let your emotions get the best of you and cause you to miss out on God’s blessing. Remember that God is the one leading you and guiding you and he gets all the glory, not us! And finally Keep your minds sober in the Lord so that when you see a fellow brother or sister doing wrong (especially one in leadership) going off in the wrong direction, you through God will help them see that what they are about to do is wrong so they can step back into the will of God. Remember the importance of obedience.

Morning Coffee Revisited 9/3/14    I Am God

Read Psalm 46 First!!!

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” (Psalm 46:10 NLT)

Hello family hope all is well. I am writing this devotion in lounge/waiting area of a local hospital. To make a long story short my mom was having some issues with tingling in her face. Airing on the side of caution my dad and I bought her to the emergency room. The doctor and nurse ran a few tests. They could not make an accurate diagnosis, so they suggested they admit her to the hospital. 24 hours later we are still here my mom. Is in good spirits and is ok. We are waiting for the doctor to give us the results of the test.

Monday night as I was lying on the couch in my mother’s room I was asking God why do you have my mother here? She has had this tingling sensation a few years ago and it was resolved without a visit to the hospital. He replied “Do you trust me?” I said yes I do. He replied “Then let me do what I need to do.” At that moment I had to let go, and just let God do what He wanted to do.

As I sit here writing to you it still is not clear why God has my mother here. But one thing is clear, He is God and He is in control. The nurses are saying my mom may go home today based on the test but we just need the doctors final ok. Weather the doctor comes today or tomorrow. I will sit back and let God do whatever he wants to do.

Don’t try to figure out a situation you can’t understand. If God does not instantly reveal to you why you are in that situation just sit back and let Him workout all that He needs to work out.

“Trust in the  lord  with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT)

Morning Coffee 3/2/15 Slow Fade (Climbing Out Is A Process)

“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” (Psalm 119:105 NLT)

“Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2 NLT)

Hello family. People don’t end up at the bottom overnight it was a slow fade that began with one moment of compromise. More often than not, it is at our lowest point that we wonder how we got there. We look up and see God reaching down to help us up. He does not always give us an instant fix because He has some things He wants us to learn on our ascent.  Climbing out won’t be easy, but God is faithful He bought me out of my junk and he will bring you out of yours! It was a process becoming who I am today and I am still in that process!  Where ever you are in your life it’s a part of the process God has for you. If you’re in the valley stay strong and hold on. Soon you will be at the top of the mountain!!! If you are on the top of a mountain be careful, hold fast to God. Because that’s a long way to fall! And a long way to climb back up!!!!  That mountaintop is just a ledge in your life! You still have higher to climb. The climb will not end until we see Jesus face to face!

Do not let anything hinder your process! No Compromise!

Morning Coffee Revisited 2/24/15 It’s Not Hard To Talk To God

“O  lord, hear me as I pray; pay attention to my groaning. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for I pray to no one but you.” (Psalm 5:1-2 NLT)

“I will praise you, lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all the marvelous things you have done. I will be filled with joy because of you. I will sing praises to your name, O Most High.” (Psalm 9:1-2 NLT)

“O  lord, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide when I am in trouble?” (Psalm 10:1 NLT)

Hello family. King David talked to God a lot! We can see this from all the psalms he wrote. David didn’t just write these psalms because it sounded nice! No! He wrote from his heart, he wrote out of his emotion! There were times he wrote out of joy (Psalm 9), times he wrote out of distress (Psalm 10 and 5). These Psalms are direct communication with God. David let his emotion show, but he always did it with reverence to God.

If we are upset it is ok to let God know. If we are sad we are free to tell God. In our emotion, we must still reverence God. He is our father and he cares about all that affects us. God has his ear open listening for His children. Just as simply as a child calls on their earthly father, we too can call on God our heavenly Father.

It is not hard to talk to God.

Much Love & God Bless
