Morning Coffee Revisited 10/11/14 Why Are You Listening To The People? (Are They God?)

cropped-mc.png

“Then Saul admitted to Samuel, “Yes, I have sinned. I have disobeyed your instructions and the  lord ’s command, for I was afraid of the people and did what they demanded.  But now, please forgive my sin and come back with me so that I may worship the lord .” But Samuel replied, “I will not go back with you! Since you have rejected the lord ’s command, he has rejected you as king of Israel.” As Samuel turned to go, Saul tried to hold him back and tore the hem of his robe.  And Samuel said to him, “The  lord  has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to someone else—one who is better than you.  And he who is the Glory of Israel will not lie, nor will he change his mind, for he is not human that he should change his mind!” Then Saul pleaded again, “I know I have sinned. But please, at least honor me before the elders of my people and before Israel by coming back with me so that I may worship the lord your God.”  So Samuel finally agreed and went back with him, and Saul worshiped the lord. (1 Samuel 15:24-31 NLT)

Good Morning or afternoon or what time of day you are reading this! We are back in 1 Samuel 15 Saul Has just confessed his sin and now he is beginning to reap the consequences.

Saul valued the opinions of the people more than he valued God’s commands. Saul did not completely destroy the Amalekites as he was instructed to do. He keep the best spoils and spared king Agag. Because of his disobedience Saul lost his anointing as king God had choose another.

Saul said he was afraid of the people, why fear them and do what they demand, are they God? When God gives you specific instructions, you carry them out to the finest detail! Pay no mind to anyone that tells you anything contrary to what God told you to do! We sometimes put way to much value in people,

We can be on the right track, doing what God told us to do. And people will say “no do it this way” at that moment we need to disregard what they are saying and continue with what God told us to do. People are not God, we should never fear or respect anyone more than God.

Disobedience to God is costly, in saul’s case it cost his his anointing as king. He put the people above God and he reaped the consequences! Don’t fear and respect anyone more than you fear and respect God. Why Are You Listening To The People? Are They God?

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee Revisited: 3/24/15 Born To Stand Out

mc

“The angel of the lord appeared to Manoah’s wife and said, “Even though you have been unable to have children, you will soon become pregnant and give birth to a son. So be careful; you must not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and his hair must never be cut. For he will be dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. He will begin to rescue Israel from the Philistines.” (Judges 13:3-5 NLT)

“Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the lord. And she made this vow: “O lord of Heaven’s Armies, if you will look upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime, and as a sign that he has been dedicated to the lord, his hair will never be cut.” (1 Samuel 1:10-11 NLT)

Hello, family. Samson and Samuel were set apart. They could not do as everyone else was doing, God had a purpose for them. Why try to fit in when you were born to stand out? Don’t be ashamed of the call that God has placed on your life! Don’t try to fight it you won’t win. You may not be the most popular person in school, true friends will be far and few between. You may feel like you are missing out! I promise you, you are not missing out on anything! Follow the path God has called you to! This world has nothing for you! Worried about being lonely? God will place not just friends, but brothers and sisters in your life that will build you up and help you stay on the path God has called you! Don’t try to blend in when you were born to stand out!

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee Revisited 3/23/15 Where Feet May Fail

mc

“Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.” (Psalm 89:11 NLT)

Hello, family. There is a song called Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong United. This song has been my life song since the beginning of this year. When I first heard it I liked it but I didn’t fully understand it now I do! Right now, I am so far past where I would dare to go on my one I am totally leaning on Him. Here is my favorite lyrics from the song. “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders Let me walk upon the waters wherever You would call me. Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander and my faith will be made stronger In the presence of my Savior!” It’s easy to stay at the water’s edge. It’s easy to sit in a boat with everyone else. When God calls you to the deep and you step out and you can’t feel the sand beneath your feet and dry land is a thousand miles way, that is where your faith is truly strengthened and you will see that God truly has you in his hand.

Much Love & God Bless

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. – Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

Hello family, This time last year my life looked totally different. Last year this time i was contemplating embarking on a mission to get the Position i currently have. This process took the better half of 2015 i was not in the job position when i had planned it, there were many ups and down. Times that i wanted to quit But God keep pushing me to pursue this goal! And one year later that goal is more than accomplished. It is far beyond what i could ever dream up. Now i stand on the edge of another year and i am asking God Whats Next?

He has given me what is next. This next step is somewhat overdue, and a few of you who have asked about it. This next step God has placed before me can no longer go ignored. i must act on it. For those of you that don know i am an author, i wrote my first book “It’s Not Over: Poems For The storm” back in 2011. I knew God had placed multiple books in me it was a matter of when they would come out. In 2016 my next step is to publish my second book and Morning Coffee Devotions first devotional book.

To be honest this book is a leap of faith for me. God is not having me put it together the way i put together my last book. He is pushing me to step it up a notch and it is a little uncomfortable. But this is where God wants, me out in the deep with my feet unable to touch the ocean floor. My understanding will not get the job done my prior self publishing experience will not be enough. I am fully relying on God to get me through this i has no other choice but to trust him in taking this next step!

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 12/28/15 Think Audacious!

the new mc banner

11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me.” In those days I was the king’s cup-bearer. – Nehemiah 1:11 NLT

Hello family, The above scripture is apart of Nehemiah’s prayer that the Lord will give him favor with the king of babylon that he would be granted permission to go and rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. The task he was about to under take was by no means easy or quick. it was a very audacious under taking. God gave Nehemiah favor with the king of babylon and eventually rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem.

Audacious: showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks. Showing an impudent lack of respect. This is the definition of audacious, I particularly like the second definition. Why? Because as we walk in the footsteps of Christ we will have to be audacious. We will have to go against the grain. Just look at Jesus life on this earth, he rubbed a whole lot of people the wrong way. But even with all the persecution He still accomplished His mission in providing a sacrifice for the sins of the world.

Debbie Sterling founder of Goldieblox, was engineering major in college and was disappointed at the lack of women in the class. After graduating she went on a mission to figure out how to get more girls interested in engineering. She came up with Goldieblox a engineering kit geared specifically for girls. At first she was meet with a lot of opposition and nay sayers But she never quit! And because of that she is now in stores like Toys”R”Us.

Family, whatever desire, whatever ministry God placed in you, it will require you to be audacious! That thing will not come to past by just doing enough to get by. There is something burning within you now and you have sat on it because you have not stepped out to where God is calling you! You want to step out but you look at the circumstances surrounding you and retreat when God is saying attack! Trust God! Your feet may not be able to touch the ocean floor but that is where He want us, not leaning on our own understanding but all our way looking to Him for everything!

Much Love & God Bless

1 A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. 2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. – Psalm 24:1-2 NLT

25 Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. – Psalm 37:25 NLT

Hello family, When fear strikes look unto the hills where you help comes from. Do fret for He is with you! Be still and know that He is God! When the Israelites were hemmed in at the shores of the red sea by pharos army, Moses said to them “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. – Exodus 14:13 NLT” He will see you through every trial. why? Because you are His and you are apart of His master plan. He really is working in every aspect of your life.

Morning Coffee 12/24/15 And The Fullness There Of Pt 2

25 Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. – Psalm 37:25 NLT

Hello family, Psalm 37:25 is the second scripture God bought to my mind during my worship time. As i read it, unbelievable peace and comfort surrounded me, motivating me to worship more. As I reflected through my life i saw that God provide every need in the high and low moments. He was there every step of the way even when i didn’t see it. It was a mini “footprints in the sand” moment.

Yesterdays devotion ended with a series of questions. “Will He not also take care of what is His? Does He not provide for you? Aren’t you His child?” Good earthly parents provide for all their child’s need (and some wants). A lot of that providing is behind the scenes, away from the awareness of the child. Some times that child may be concerned and “ask where are we going?” And the parent will answer something like “you will see.” At that point the sit back and see or ask again only to get the same answer.

We some times do the something to God. We ask a second or third time because we are not in control and cant see whats ahead. Has God ever lead you wrong? Has He ever abandoned you and left you for dead? No! It may seem like it but he is working in the background working out what we cant see. In these situations where we can see or the situation is challenging what we should ask is “Lord what do you want me to learn and see about myself here where you have me now?”

Much Love & God Bless

1 A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. 2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. – Psalm 24:1-2 NLT

Hello family, Over the pass two days a situation at my place of work has been preventing me from working the hours i was scheduled to work. On this second day i was left with the choice of getting upset over something that was out of my hands or putting my self aside and worship God in spite of my situation.

In the midst of my worship God bought the above scripture to my mind. “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it”. Sometimes we don’t full grasp the fact that we own nothing and that we are just stewards over the things God gives us. The phone or computer you are using to read this devotion belongs to God. Everything you have before you, all of your possessions came from the elements of this planet. Who made the elements? God did. so He owns it, no matter what form its in.

Now since he Owns it, does he not have full right to do has He pleases with it? Will He not also take care of what is His? Does He not provide for you? Aren’t you His child?  Part two is tomorrow but think on these questions through out your day let God speak to you about them.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee Revisited 10/4/14 In The Zone

“After the death of Moses the servant of the  Lord, the  Lord  said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide:  “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites.  I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.  Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.  No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.  Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.     “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.  Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the  Lord  your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:1-9 NIV)

I’m sure we all have heard and/or used the term “in the zone.” Especially in sports when an athlete or team is performing exceptionally well. When Joshua became leader of the Israelites, they got in the zone! Joshua and Caleb kept the nation of Israel in line with God. Yes, some mistakes were made, but even with those mistakes God turned it for their good because they were walking in obedience to God.

Read Joshua chapter ten through twelve, it’s the graveyard of fallen kings and kingdoms. The Israelites defeat kingdom after kingdom, tallying up a winning streak that would make King David prayed! They were so in line with God that during one particular battle found in chapter ten, God stopped the solar system so they could win the battle.

When we get in the zone with God, we are unstoppable! When we fall in line with His plan and we are in obedience to Him, awesome things happen. Get in the zone with God!

Morning Coffee Revisited: 2/17/15 In Transition

mc

Hello family! There will be times in our life when we will find ourselves in transition. God will move us from one stage in our life to the next. In that time of transition we will experience moments when we feel God pushing us forward. Then there will be other moments when we don’t feel him. It may seem like He is not there at all, but He is! In those times we don’t feel Him don’t panic, just keep doing what He told you to do. Don’t let any outside noise derail you! Don’t start searching for a new way to do stuff, don’t let fear paralyze you! You are well equipped for this moment, God is with you!

At the end of this devotion you will find that there is no music to listen to. Instead allow God to lead you to a quiet place. Turn off the computer, TV, Cell Phone. Tell your family you need a moment to yourself. Eliminate ALL distractions Sit down and don’t say a word. Just let god speak to you on a deeper personal level.

“Be still, and know that I am God! I will be honored by every nation. I will be honored throughout the world.” The lord of Heaven’s Armies is here among us; the God of Israel is our fortress.” (Psalm 46:10-11 NLT)
