Morning Coffee 3/28/18 Stand

Hello Family,

Have you been a support for a brother or sister? God used you in the process to help draw them out of there darkness and into the light God. And you continue to uplift them, support them and encourage them. You watch as they walk through doors that only God can open. And even when they focus on the one tiny dark cloud in there life, you are the one to lift there head and show them all the God given sunshine around them. Only to hang up the phone and face the storm clouds in your own life. You wonder “God where is my cheerleader?!  Where is my door that no man can shut?!” You look all around you and you see your high school classmates getting married and building families and/or careers. You look back at your self and wonder where you went wrong!

Im here to say to you, you have not made a wrong turn! You are on the right track. I know the world says “nice guys/girls finish last” and it’s tempting to take things in your own hand start making things happen. But know this “The flower that blooms in adversity is the rarest and most beautiful of all.” – The Emperor, Mulan (1998) God has you on a different course than your friends, thant the rest of this world. So when they have peaked, you will be just getting started. The last flower too bloom also last the longest. So keep standing and watch God work.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 3/26/18 Lion

Hello Family,

Jesus Christ is is described as both Lion and Lamb. Our tendency is to focus more on the lamb than the Lion. We have no hold back in how we approach a little lamb. We get all mushy and say “awwww!” But let a Lion walk in the room and everything within us works to put as much distance between us and that Lion as possible. The world see has the same mentality. they see us as lambs, all cute and fluffy. But God is calling out the lion in us. Yes we are to share the love of God but also His holiness. You can’t have one and not the other. Christ is both the Lamb of God and Lion of Judah. God is Love but He is also Holy.

Morning Coffee 3/18/18 I Am Not (Poem)

I….

I am not your el shaddai

I am not your God that sits on high

My name is not a strong tower

if you run in, i can’t guarantee your safety

I am not the one who walks on water

so don’t cry to me “Lord save me!”

I cannot walk out you salvation and expect to keep my own

I need time to go to the table to feed me!

Yes I know our tradition

but i have moments when i need God so let me be!

I can lead a horse to water but i cant make him drink

yes things are good but i cant always be there when things start to sink.

I am not the bruised reed that will not break.

If i bend to far i will break!

Im am doing my best to point you to the source

but i guess you will learn as life runs its course.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 3/6/18 Stone In A Pond Pt 2

19 “I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants, 20 by loving the LORD your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding fast to Him; for this is your life and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the LORD swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.” – Deuteronomy 30:19-20 NASB

Hello Family,

If you take a stone and throw it into any body of water the waves from that stone will affect the entire body of water.

If we can have an impact on this planet by doing good and obeying the call of God, we can certainly leave a negative impression on this blue planet orbiting in God’s universe. We don’t have to look far for an example. But for the sake of this devotion we will look at king Saul. When he started out it was all good, Saul’s desire was simply to please the Lord. As time passed his heart took pride, greed and other attitudes that derailed Him from his initial call.

Ultimatly God had to rase up David to replace Saul. We can complicate things when we begin to allow impurities to contaminate the mission God called us to.There is such a stark contrast between the church in countries with less freedom and the “church” here in the united states of America.

IT’S TIME TO REMOVE THE IMPURITIES. And it starts with you!

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 3/5/18 Stone In A Pond Pt 1

12 Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. 13 Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 3:12-14 NASB

Hello Family,

If you take a stone and throw it into any body of water the waves from that stone will affect the entire body of water.

Do you know the impact you have? God designed you to impact this world! Now before you get caught up in thoughts like “I’m not a preacher” “I’m not ordained” “I didn’t go to seminary!” I want you to clear your head of any complicated thoughts. Jesus started his ministry with three simple words, “Come follow me!”. He said these three simple words to twelve men who answered the call.

Two thousand plus years later you and I were caught up in the ripple from those three words. God is simply saying “come!” but we use our past, our lack of education and many other excuses not to answer that call. Going on four years now you have read the devotions, poems and thoughts that God has given me. Many of you have express how blessed you have been by them. I give all glory to God. Because i only have a high school level education, i am not ordained by any man, I meet none of the man made qualification to deliver the messages that God gives me to deliver. But here we are going on four years of service to God. All because one night i said yes to the simple things God called me to do. Don’t get caught up in the physical impact but ask God to show you the spirtual impact of saying yes to his will.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 3/3/18 (Featuring Casey Blake) I Close My Eyes To See

Hello Family,

B. sawyer here, the devotion below is written by a close friend of mine Casey Blake. It is my pleasure to introduce her to you. She is now apart of morning coffee devotions and as God leads you will devotions written by her. God has placed a great gift in her and i am humbled to have a front row seat in her life to see the gifts in her unfold. so please let god speak to you with what she has written.

Much Love

B. Sawyer

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

Hebrews 11:1

My kids are stuck on this soundtrack lately. It’s to a movie called The Greatest Showman. If you haven’t seen it you should. It’s a secular movie but with many many spiritual parallels all throughout. This morning as I was getting ready, the lyrics to one of the songs kept playing through my mind, like it was on repeat, a cry straight from my heart.

But say that you’ll bring me along

To the world you see

To the world I close my eyes to see

I close my eyes to see”. —A Million Dreams, The Greatest Showman

That last line, “I close my eyes to see” it just kept playing redundantly, touching this place in my spirit that needed refreshing. You see, she is singing about these dreams, they aren’t just big dreams they are “impossible” dreams! New job, moving upstate, starting over, new ministry, or new relationship sort of dreams. The ones Joseph had, the dreams that were so UNBELIEVABLE they had to be from God because no human could even think them up! I am in a season where I just have to close my eyes in order to see all that God is doing… because He is doing those things inside of me. My outside circumstances are changing and will always change but what He is faithfully doing in me, that’s what I long to see.

My faith is built on knowing that God comes through everytime I can’t see the answer. When my inadequacy takes over, when my sin is glaring, when I have just hurt someone so close to me… His faithfulness, his ability to mold me and make a way out of no way- that’s what He uses to fix the situation and to love me back to life. If that doesn’t make you wanna shout… nothing will!

I am CONFIDENT in what I can’t see- knowing that my Jesus is actively and intentionally writing my story, creating every plot twist with my growth and best interest at the center of His  heart for me.

Close your eyes and see what He has for you… don’t just ask Him to show you- actually look beyond what you can see!

Morning Coffee 3/3/18 Business As Usual

Business As Usual

Sunday three services starting bright and early at eight.

Wednesday  night bible study roles around. Its the end of “hump day” and we are feeling great.

Friday night youth group full of “lock ins” and other forms of fun.

Saturday morning rises and we look back on the week and we pat or self on the back saying “job well done!”

Hello Family,

Let me ask you a question. What if the normal procedure to any one of the weekly events was interrupted for one person? What if God. extended Sundays eight AM service that normally ends at nine until noon, just for one soul to be healed. What if God halted your brisk pace through the book of psalms for two weeks so one person can get the peace they have desperately been searching for? What if the youth lock in was cancelled so a young persons heat can be unlocked?

Would you get frustrated because your “business as usual” was interrupted or would you see with the loving discerning eyes of God and obey the movement of the Holy spirit?

12 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them wanders away, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others on the hills and go out to search for the one that is lost?” – Matthew 18:12 NLT

Morning Coffee 2/28/18 For His Glory

17 When Pharaoh finally let the people go, God did not lead them along the main road that runs through Philistine territory, even though that was the shortest route to the Promised Land. God said, “If the people are faced with a battle, they might change their minds and return to Egypt.” 18 So God led them in a roundabout way through the wilderness toward the Red Sea. Thus the Israelites left Egypt like an army ready for battle. – Exodus 13:17-18 NLT

Hello Family,

What if Moses and the Israelites marched across the red sea on a pre built bridge? what if the took the shortcut? It wouldn’t make for such a awesome story. It would make the story very “run of the mill.” And God would get no glory in it. God is not some egotistical, power hungry tyrant! First of all unlike man He actually deserves the Glory! Secondly He wants to use your Red Sea story for two purposes. To draw others out of darkness (Egypt) and into the light and to remind you when you are faced with future trials, you can look back and see how far He has bought you. then you can be encouraged and march forward into the promise land God has for you1
