Sunday Thoughts 3/19/17

What if the fire you are going through was built for your benefit? What if shortcomings are ultimately designed to help to in the long-run? What if that thorn in your side was designed to keep you at the feet of the father? What if The storm was made to give you peace?

Morning Coffee 2/20/17 Whats Next?

I gave you land you had not worked on, and I gave you towns you did not build–the towns where you are now living. I gave you vineyards and olive groves for food, though you did not plant them. “So fear the LORD and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the LORD alone. But if you refuse to serve the LORD, then choose today whom you will serve. Would you prefer the gods your ancestors served beyond the Euphrates? Or will it be the gods of the Amorites in whose land you now live? But as for me and my family, we will serve the LORD.” – (Joshua 24:13-15 NLT)

Hello family, During our life we will see many mountain tops. We will have many victories. Often we sometimes find our self standing on a mountain top wandering what next. We feel great that we have had this awesome victory. But now all the confetti has fallen, the buzz is fading and we feel God start to move and shift our seasons.

What Next God? This question was posed to me by one of my spiritual fathers. At the time a had so much in me i could not give a sold answer. But I was not asked that question to provide him with a right or wrong answer. The question was a challenge for me to not rest on my laurels. It was a challenge meant to push me forward into perusing God for the next step.

Everyday we are given the choice to serve the gods of this world. Or serve the true and living God. Everyday we are face with a what next. And that answer can only come from God. Because each day is a new day with a different mission, another step on this journey called life and we can get pulled off by stuff that will make us feel good. Our purpose is not to feel good! But to make as big of an impact as we can with our God given talents. We will always need to know what is next. That is why many times God wont let us rest to long, He has a plan for us that he needs us to carry out. There are many more mountain tops to stand on. So continue to pursue God. Celebrate all he has done in your life but keep moving forward.

Free Chapel – Moving Forward

Morning Coffee 10/13/16 Not This Mountain Again

Read Number 8:5-6

We even saw giants there, the descendants of Anak. Next to them we felt like grasshoppers, and that’s what they thought, too!” NLT

Hello family, for me this week has been about overcoming mountains that i have been wandering around. By gods grace I am finally moving past these mountains. So i can walk forward to the next step.

God could not bring the Israelites into the promise land in there fearful doubtful state. he had to eliminate the things that were getting in the way. Sometimes we get in God’s way and hinder our own process like the Israelites. God will let us hit out baby toe a few times until we see that we are being our own worst enemy. Sometimes we are the ones that need to be removed.

And when we finally get out of God’s way He can then move us forward into what he has for us next. Get over this mountain! Don’t find your self coming back to it saying. Not this mountain again!

Morning Coffee 10/12/16 Simple

Read 1 Romans 8:5-6

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. – Romans 8:5 NLT

Hello family, Last night after i finished writing. I took a step of obedience. I did work on my book, I kicked procrastination to the corner and got a decent amount of work done. When i awoke i felt that he was please with me.

When God says go we sometimes look for the big complicated steps to take, when God is keeping it simple for us. Taking that first step is as simple as a simple act of obedience. That will open up more opportunities and it will become more joyful to take these steps. Just follow the leading of the holy spirt. and watch what happens.

Morning Coffee 10/11/16 Like David

Read 1Samuel 17:1-10

Goliath stood and shouted a taunt across to the Israelites. “Why are you all coming out to fight?” he called. “I am the Philistine champion, but you are only the servants of Saul. Choose one man to come down here and fight me! – 1 Samuel 17:8

Hello family, Ever read the stories of david and see all that God gave him the ability to conqurer? Ever walk away from those stories feeling like you can take on the world, only to have them stolen when a trial comes or God gives you a task that seems to much?

You know within your self God has poured in the drive and the capability to do more and take on more. But your stuck on GO, when you know you should be on Park Place with six hotels and twenty houses. You ask yourself why am i still standing here? Thats me that is where i am right now.

I mentioned that I’m putting together my first devotional book earlier this year. I started out on fire but now things have slowed and its my doing. I should have had the book done by now but because of procrastination it wont be out till late November.

Goliath issued a challenge that David answered. The antagonizing words of the philistine hit davids spirit and David acted on it. This stories stir us for a reason, when these scripture stir you up don’t go to sleep on them be like David and act on them

Morning Coffee 10/5/16 What Purpose Does It Serve

Read Luke 12:13-30

21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.” – Luke 12:21 NLT

Hello family, last night i watched a show about wealthy people who bought secluded islands and built multi million dollar mansions on them. One house caught the attention of my mother and i. The owner had spared no expense to build his castle. He talked about how strong it was and how long it will stand the test of time and, i will admit the house was impressive.

But my mom commented “He has all of that and it is nice, but is he filled with joy?” I reflected on all that God has blessed me with and i thanked Him for it. I also reflected on the things i asked God for but did not give me. I also thanked Him for not giving me those things.

I have had some awesome luxuries in my life and i have enjoyed them. These luxuries were not just for me. God used them to bless others in my sphere of influence. God does bless us with some of our wants. When we get them we should not boast in them. or become so attached that we can’t give it up to some one who needs it.

I have been so blessed to share with others what God has blessed me with. Because it is serving a greater purpose than for myself. I don’t want to leave this earth like the rich man. If my barns are filled to overflowing, i want to feed the city. I don’t want to be the one that accumulates a lot and it is all for selfish gain. I don’t want that as my legacy. Whatever wealth (not just material wealth) God gives me, i want it to overflow into the cups of those around me. After all we are simply stewards over everything we have in our life. We own nothing! Not even our life!

Morning Coffee 10/3/16 Just Be Still

Read Luke 10:38-42

39 Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. – Luke 10:39 NLT

Hello family, sometimes when we are adjusting to a new season. We get eager and look for the nearest button to push or adjustmeant to make. But God wants us to just be filled by Him. I’m coming out of a season where i was at a constant go. But now has shifted the pace.

Our new church has morning prayer before the main service begins. I am a part of the media team. For the past three weeks i would sit at the audio desk like Spiderman waiting for my “spider senses” to tingle and point me in the direction of the issue that needed fixing. I found my self being over ready trying to do too much.

The brothers that are in charge of the audio and video encouraged me week after week to relax we are a team. You don’t have to carry the load by your self. This past Sunday my family and i arrived late, i walked through the door and everything was ok. The brother training me, motioned me over. He showed me the play list for worship and said to me “this is all you have to worry about i fixed the volume and set it all right ill be here with you. Just worry about the song order.”

I got a chance to be poured into by God during prayer and worship because i stop going hundred miles an hour. God has slowed me down and sat me at his feet to receive from Him.

We can become so used to pouring out that it seems strange when God slows us down to heal us and fill us up. When God slows your pace, don’t try to keep going at the previous speed. Slow down clear your mind and be fill up.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 9/28/16 Sabbath pt2

Hello family, We are continuing our devotion on the sabbath.

Read Mark 2:23-28

27 Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. – Mark 2:27 NLT

The Pharisees made the sabbath a burden for the people. They could not properly enjoy the day God provide for them to rest because it had become legalistic. The sabbath was designed for our benefit it was never intended to lord over us. At this moment Christ shows His authority. He is Lord over the sabbath.

What that did was shift the focus from trying to be in line with all the regulations and traditions to being inline with Christ. Does this take way the fourth commandment? No! (see Matthew 5:17) God wants us to have a day of rest to be filled and restored by Him. We must rest other wise we will run our self into the ground spiritually and physically.

The Jews celebrated the Sabbath from sundown on the sixth day (friday) to sundown on the seventh (Saturday). Now today many of us work within this time frame. Does this mean we are sinning and can’t receive restoration from God? That is not the case because our sabbath rest  and restoration is no longer found in a specific day or time frame but found in Christ.

Read Colossians 2

16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality. – Colossians 2:16-17 NLT

When gentiles (non Jews) came into the body of Christ some of the christian jews tried to get them to follow there traditions. The sabbath was not acknowledged by any other nation or people group, except the Jews it was and is a Jewish tradition. Paul sets things straight If we are not off from work on the sabbath and do house chores we don’t need to feel like we have sinned because we haven’t. Because our rest is found in christ. Our devotion to God and restoration is not reliant on a day.

Read romans 14

5 In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. – Romans 14:5 NLT

If you are off form work on Saturday by all means go and spend time with God, go and and be restored by Him go get your sabbath rest. But if you see another believer that rest and worships God on another day. Do not condemn him and say they are wrong, they are not sinning. They can be filled up and restored by God on a Sunday or Monday just as much as you are from sundown on friday to to sundown on Saturday.

Family if you celebrate the sabbath in the traditional time, go for it! Go and be filled by God. If you rest and devote time to God on another day don’t be condemned, go and serve God with all that is within you. And be restored by Him.  i encourage you to Go to God and let him lead you, study this for your self.

Morning Coffee 9/19/16 Made For This!

22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. – Proverbs 8:22 KJV

Hello family, this past week at my job was a bit rough I just wanted it to end. I took calls that had complaint after complaint. I felt like i was being shot at by a firing squad. I could not wait for Friday, my off day too come and get to the mens group that evening.

God had something for me that evening. I got a new point of view, customer service for apple is not my job. It is another aspect of the ministry God has given me. God has ordained each call that rings to my phone. Before the foundations of the world was made, I was destined to speak with every person that has and will ever call in to my line.

So I am no longer looking at my position as a job or work, but ministry. We don’t have to call fire down from heaven and throw out a bunch of scripture. No! All we have to be is a willing open vessel and allow the Holy Spirit to flow through us. He can move through the tone of my greeting, “Hello! Thank you for calling Apple, my name is Brandon! How can I help you today?”

Your Job is another aspect of your ministry. No matter if you are the CEO of a big corporation or the midnight trash man. For this moment you were made for. You may be the last Jesus they see!
