Morning Coffee 12/13/17 The Priest &The Virgin

FIRST READ LUKE 1:5-38

18 Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I be sure this will happen? I’m an old man now, and my wife is also well along in years.”

38 Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her. – Luke 1:38 NLT

Hello family

We are open vessels for God to use according to His good will. We have a priest in one of the highest positions chosen to burn incense in the sanctuary. This man has been in the Holy of Holies, a man seen as connected with God. Then we have a virgin a common young woman, engaged to a carpenter. Both are visited by Gabriel the Archangel and given messages of great news. But the responses are totally different.

Both asked how the things that were told to them will happen, but the difference is the openness of their heart. Like the priest we can serve God in presence and do all the “christian duties” but totally miss an opportunity to fully receive from a move of God. It’s amazing that the vessel in the “lower” position in society was the most open but The vessel of high status had his lid half away on not fully willing to receive what was being poured into him.

Morning Coffee 12/5/17 Worship & Praise

Hello Family

Praise does not define worship, but your worship defines your praise.

One evening, Justin returns home from work and finds his wife, Angela, all made up and slipping into a beautiful outfit. He concludes she must have planned something special for them and offers to get dressed up as well.

Angela, a bit confused, responds, “Oh honey, I’m going out with Tony tonight. We’re going to get dinner, catch a movie, and check into the Fairmont Hotel. I should be back by midmorning.”

“Who’s Tony?!” Justin fires back.

“He’s my boyfriend from high school,” she replies.

“What! You can’t go out with him!”

“Why not?”

“Because we are married; we are committed to each other. We don’t date other people!” he says, stating what he assumes should be obvious.

“Hold on, honey!” Angela replies. “You are my favorite. I love you more than any of my old boyfriends, but you really can’t expect me to not see them any longer. I’ve been close with some of them for years, I still love them, and I want to enjoy time with them. What’s wrong with that?”

Hello family, take a minute and think about the opening statement. Our minds have separated and watered down the definition of these two words. God spoke the openings statement to me when i was in the shower, and when He said it, it made perfect sense.

We along with all the rest of creation are designed to worship but unlike the rest of the plants and animals we are not forced to worship God. we are not forced pre programed to worship  Him. God gave us the beautiful gift of choice. However one thing we cannot escape is what we are designed to do and that is worship.

However many years God has destined you to be here on this blue planet you are going to worship, you are going to dedicate a lifestyle of worship to someone or something, there is no gray area angela obviously placed more value on her x boyfriend than she did her own husband. Her life style of worship was for her ex.

Now that we have cleared up the definition of worship lets talk about praise. You see the depth of our lifestyle of worship we devote to God or anything else is going to be reflected in our praise. For example think about your favorite sports team or favorite music artist.

How would you react if i told you that i’m giving you prime front row seats to got to there game or concert. you reaction is your praise for that artist or team, because you have spent time researching them following there twitter and Facebook  accounts, you IDENTIFY with them, so of course you will be excited to hear about the tickets.

It is the same with God the more time we devote to Him (lifestyle of worship) the more passionate our praise will be. Since we are on the subject of praise lets redefine that.

Praise is the outward demonstration of the depth  your worship lifestyle. Praise is more than just the hype music on a Sunday morning. Praise is the tears that roll down your face when you think about all god has done for you. Praise is when the presents of God inters the room and all you can do is sit quietly in it. We have got it backwards, its no praise & worship its worship and praise.

Praise does not define worship, but your worship defines your praise.
