Morning Coffee 9/29/16 You Got This

4 Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. 5 God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. – Ephesians 1:4-5 NLT

Hello family, last night i watched a show called chopped that comes on food network. Four chefs make a three course meal the dishes appetizer, main dish, and desert, from pre chosen ingredients. for each dish that the chefs must use. At the end of each round a chef is chopped.

One chef caught my attention as the show was going through the intros. She was small in stature and more than likely the youngest and least experienced of the four chefs. In her intro she mentioned all that she had accomplished but then she stated that she often doubts her self and her skills. that bothered me because i saw a young woman that had accomplished much and still has great potential. But she didn’t see that she saw her shortcomings.

Long story short, she won! The dishes she put together out shown the dishes of the more experienced chefs. God would not have given you the gifts and talents you have if you were not capable to properly operate in them. He would not have placed you in the job you have if you were not capable of doing it!

Don’t be like Moses or Gideon and pour out a bunch of reasons why you can’t stop doubting and get up and Go!

Morning Coffee 9/28/16 Sabbath pt2

Hello family, We are continuing our devotion on the sabbath.

Read Mark 2:23-28

27 Then Jesus said to them, “The Sabbath was made to meet the needs of people, and not people to meet the requirements of the Sabbath. – Mark 2:27 NLT

The Pharisees made the sabbath a burden for the people. They could not properly enjoy the day God provide for them to rest because it had become legalistic. The sabbath was designed for our benefit it was never intended to lord over us. At this moment Christ shows His authority. He is Lord over the sabbath.

What that did was shift the focus from trying to be in line with all the regulations and traditions to being inline with Christ. Does this take way the fourth commandment? No! (see Matthew 5:17) God wants us to have a day of rest to be filled and restored by Him. We must rest other wise we will run our self into the ground spiritually and physically.

The Jews celebrated the Sabbath from sundown on the sixth day (friday) to sundown on the seventh (Saturday). Now today many of us work within this time frame. Does this mean we are sinning and can’t receive restoration from God? That is not the case because our sabbath rest  and restoration is no longer found in a specific day or time frame but found in Christ.

Read Colossians 2

16 So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths. 17 For these rules are only shadows of the reality yet to come. And Christ himself is that reality. – Colossians 2:16-17 NLT

When gentiles (non Jews) came into the body of Christ some of the christian jews tried to get them to follow there traditions. The sabbath was not acknowledged by any other nation or people group, except the Jews it was and is a Jewish tradition. Paul sets things straight If we are not off from work on the sabbath and do house chores we don’t need to feel like we have sinned because we haven’t. Because our rest is found in christ. Our devotion to God and restoration is not reliant on a day.

Read romans 14

5 In the same way, some think one day is more holy than another day, while others think every day is alike. You should each be fully convinced that whichever day you choose is acceptable. – Romans 14:5 NLT

If you are off form work on Saturday by all means go and spend time with God, go and and be restored by Him go get your sabbath rest. But if you see another believer that rest and worships God on another day. Do not condemn him and say they are wrong, they are not sinning. They can be filled up and restored by God on a Sunday or Monday just as much as you are from sundown on friday to to sundown on Saturday.

Family if you celebrate the sabbath in the traditional time, go for it! Go and be filled by God. If you rest and devote time to God on another day don’t be condemned, go and serve God with all that is within you. And be restored by Him.  i encourage you to Go to God and let him lead you, study this for your self.

Morning Coffee 9/27/16 Sabbath pt1

2 On the seventh day God had finished his work of creation, so he rested from all his work. 3 And God blessed the seventh day and declared it holy, because it was the day when he rested from all his work of creation. – Genesis 2:2-3 NLT

Hello family, Their have been many arguments on this topic. This devotion is not about taking sides in fact it is intended to bring unity and peace of mind so we can serve God with all our heart mind and soul.

Genesis 2:2-3 Cast a shadow for what God would establish in the nation of Israel when he wrote the ten commandments. God set an example for us when he established this day of rest. God wanted us to have a day when we could rest from our work. and enjoy his presence and be filled up so we can serve him.

8 “Remember to observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. – Exodus 20:8 NLT

This is the fourth commandment that God wrote down on the tablets that Moses bought down from the mountain. Once again God established this so the people of Israel can be restored spiritually and physically. So from sundown on the sixth day to sundown on the seventh they rested and were restored by God. There work was much more labor intensive.  They had to walk every place they went and they grew tired.

Its hard to serve God without any energy. So on the seventh day they did not travel they camped where they were. Cooking was definitely a chore so they ate the mana that was gathered the day before. When we see all the rules regarding the sabbath rest we have to look at the time they lived in a lot of the things we do today we much more strenuous than they are now.

By the time we get to the new testament the Pharisees had twisted this command and made it a burden for the people. Enter the Christ. Read Matthew 12:1-14 The priest had taken what was supposed to be a blessing and made it feel like curse. But Jesus set that straight. He is lord of the sabbath. His disciples were hungry they were permitted to pick the grain. There was a need that needed to be met Christ permits us to go and provide for those needs, even on the. Sabbath.

Morning Coffee 9/22/16 Run Even Harder

12 Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. 13 For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him. – Philippians 2:12-13 NLT

Hello family, Paul is encouraging the Philippines to keep pursuing God, if anything pursue him all the more! Don’t let up and relax. No! Keep applying what was taught to you! As you seek God he will strengthen you to do what pleases Him. And you will Grow stronger in your faith in God.

Keep putting to practice what God has taught you. The more we are in God, the deeper we go, and the more sensitive we become to his will. Just because the teacher gave you a passing grade does not mean you ease up. Go! Move to the next step and continue to apply the other steps you learned before.

Morning Coffee 9/21/16 I Am Glad For The Desperation!

28 Come unto me, all [ye] that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28 KJV

Hello family, where i live at we have been in a minor drought. On Sunday we got the rain we needed. As the worship was going on, I caught a glimpse of out side. As  i focused my attention out the window i saw that it was raining. The Holy Spirt asked me “What does the rain do to the road surface when it first starts raining?” It brings up all the dirt and oils out and washes them off.

Sunday God let it rain not just in the physical but in the spiritual. Junk that had accumulated over time was washed away and there was a clean slate. I am fresh and renewed. I am grateful for God allowing me to get to a point of desperation. Now i can truly appreciate his healing rain.

He did not leave me to dry up! He let me get to a place where i had no other choice but to look up! I am standing here only because he made away. He released the pressure, he eliminated things that got me off focus! He bought in the monsoon rains to water my heart. I see clearer now I hear him louder. When you are without something that you need. You embrace it when you get it back.

Morning Coffee 9/20/16 Youth!

14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven. – Matthew 19:14 KJV

Hello family,  the youth need our prayers, the kids coming up now are bombarded by more media and influences than any other generation before it. This world wants to destroy our youth and it will try any way possible to make that happen.Do not discount the children. They are the ones with most potential, to affect this world. If they can’t find safety and a sense of family at home they will seek it else where. And the system of this world is more than willing to provide it. Pray for the children of this generation. if they are taken out now they wont have a tomorrow.

Morning Coffee 9/19/16 Made For This!

22 The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. – Proverbs 8:22 KJV

Hello family, this past week at my job was a bit rough I just wanted it to end. I took calls that had complaint after complaint. I felt like i was being shot at by a firing squad. I could not wait for Friday, my off day too come and get to the mens group that evening.

God had something for me that evening. I got a new point of view, customer service for apple is not my job. It is another aspect of the ministry God has given me. God has ordained each call that rings to my phone. Before the foundations of the world was made, I was destined to speak with every person that has and will ever call in to my line.

So I am no longer looking at my position as a job or work, but ministry. We don’t have to call fire down from heaven and throw out a bunch of scripture. No! All we have to be is a willing open vessel and allow the Holy Spirit to flow through us. He can move through the tone of my greeting, “Hello! Thank you for calling Apple, my name is Brandon! How can I help you today?”

Your Job is another aspect of your ministry. No matter if you are the CEO of a big corporation or the midnight trash man. For this moment you were made for. You may be the last Jesus they see!

Morning Coffee 9/15/16 Untitiled

Hello family, Over the past few month i have gotten inconsistent with posting morning coffee devotions and that is 100% my fault. Procrastination has been my biggest enemy. And God is  correcting me. God laid out a road map for me and Morning coffee. He’s been knocking on my heart saying, “Why are you not writing? Here is what i want you to write.” i would put it off and say ill do it later. Well, later is here.

Sometimes we (myself included) really don’t see the importance of the gifts and ministries God gives us. I know i haven’t been looking with God’s eyes. I’ve kept on the rose tinted glasses of my flesh. And i am so wrong for that. Ive been seeing the likes on older devotions some of you have made on the word press blog. God showed me that This ministry is still valid. God established it and only he can take it down.

I apologize to you my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ for going MIA and abandon my post. I will not stop writing, i can’t God won’t let me! I will be here and where ever He needs me. Because this ministry no matter how small matters. lets see this world with Gods eyes

Morning Coffee 9/1/16 No Insignificance

Hello family, This devotion is a little bit different. Im a bit of a kid at heart, i still eat kids cereal and watch cartoons. One thing i like to do for my favorite cartoons is create my own characters and give them a backstory and write a story about them with the foundations of the original cartoon.

Im a fan of the my little pony cartoon so the other night i was creating the pony in the picture above, her name is Harmony Freedom. i was writing her backstory and i give most of my creations a quote that they live by. God gave me these words for her quote “I may be blind but God has given me a vision. I am a light to a world full of hopelessness.”- Harmony Freedom.

I sat back and re-read the quote aloud several times. Family, all to often we look at our limitations, and disabilities and tell God you can’t use me! Leave me alone! We forget who God is, we forget that He is the one that makes us strong in our weakness. If you were to read Harmony freedoms bio you would see that she was born blind and she lost her parents tragically. All reasons to give up and say i can’t  But see God is the light at the end of every dark tunnel. you see harmony freedom was adopted by loving parents that only saw the potential in her the awesome musical talent placed in her.

God is the light at the end of your dark tunnel, He’s not a train coming to run you over. He wants to shift your focus from what you can’t do to what you can do! Helen Keller was blind and deaf but she did not let that stop her from leaving a lasting impact on this world. “8 Three different times I begged the Lord to take it away. 9 Each time he said, “My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.” – 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 NLT

“I may be blind but God has given me a vision. I am a light to a world full of hopelessness.”- Harmony Freedom.
