“Wisdom will save you from the immoral woman, from the seductive words of the promiscuous woman. She has abandoned her husband and ignores the covenant she made before God. Entering her house leads to death; it is the road to the grave. The man who visits her is doomed. He will never reach the paths of life. Follow the steps of good men instead, and stay on the paths of the righteous. For only the godly will live in the land, and those with integrity will remain in it. But the wicked will be removed from the land, and the treacherous will be uprooted.” (Proverbs 2:16-22 NLT)
A man is driving home on a dark and stormy night and its raining like a monsoon. He comes up on a bright yellow sign with flashing lights that says “road closed bridge washed out.” The man pulls his truck over and sighs in disappointment, “my house is right around the corner on the other side! How am I going to get home now!”
Just then a police officer knocks on his window, the officer ask if he needs help. The Man explains his situation, the officer then directs him on a alternate way home but it will take him an hour to get home. The officer explains its the only way, the man thanks the officer he rolls up his window and thinks ” that river isn’t that deep I have a 4 wheel drive! I’ve crossed it before!” He looks back at the yellow sign. He takes a deep breath turns his truck around and calls his wife to let her know he will be late coming home.
Sometime later another man with a truck is driving up the same road. He sees the bright yellow sign with flashing lights. He pulls over sighs deeply and ponders what to do. He also lives right around the corner on the other side of the river. The police officer from earlier advises him of the alternate route. When the man realizes it will take him an hour to get home he tells the officer that’s ok I’ll find my own way! And drives off pass the officer and the sign.
The next day The man who took the long way home is awakened by the sound of helicopters. He gets dressed and walks outside, he sees emergency vehicles at the corner. The man runs down and asks “what happened?” The offer tells him they are searching for a man in a truck that drove into the river last night. His wife called him in saying he never made it home.
God will send us warning signs. He will also give us the wisdom to make the right choice. Take heed to the waning signs God gives you. If you ignore them it will lead you to an end you don’t want!
Much Love & God Bless
