Morning Coffee 12/31/15 What Saved Noah ? Pt2

the new mc banner

7 It was by faith that Noah built a large boat to save his family from the flood. He obeyed God, who warned him about things that had never happened before. By his faith Noah condemned the rest of the world, and he received the righteousness that comes by faith. – Hebrews 11:7 NLT

Hello family, God showed favor (GRACE) on Noah. Now it is up to him (Noah) to take hold of that favor. And he does exactly that. Why does he act and obey on this favor extended to him? Noah acts on God’s command because he had faith in what God was telling him to do. Faith in hebrew is amanah (am-aw-naw’) wich is defined as support or agreement (see Strong’s Concordance). So Noah put his support in God and acted in Obedience.

If you don’t have faith in something you are not going to trust it, you won’t obey it, you may even distance your self from it. But if you do have faith in something you will act on it and draw closer to it. We sit in chairs every day having faith that it will support us when we sit in them. If we have any thought that the chairs strength was compromised we would fix the chair or get anew one all together.

6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him. – Hebrews 11:6 NLT

Faith, Grace, Obedience! That is what saved Noah and his family not obedience alone or grace alone. These three are always connected. When God sends us on a mission we have His favor (GRACE). We can have faith that He will provide all we need to accomplish the mission. With faith there is no reason not to obey. God told you to move then move!

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 12/30/15 What Saved Noah ? Pt1

the new mc banner

1 When everything was ready, the LORD said to Noah, “Go into the boat with all your family, for among all the people of the earth, I can see that you alone are righteous. – Genesis 7:1 NLT

Hello family, Many times I have seen or heard the phrase “Grace did not save Noah! Obedience saved Noah!” This has been on my mind the past few weeks. The phrase does not deliver the full message. Lets look back to Genesis 6:5-8

“5 The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. 6 So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. 7 And the LORD said, “I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth. Yes, and I will destroy every living thing–all the people, the large animals, the small animals that scurry along the ground, and even the birds of the sky. I am sorry I ever made them.” 8 But Noah found favor with the LORD. – Genesis 6:5-8 NLT

Ok the Lord was displeased with the wickedness of man and was going wipe the earth clean. But Noah found favor with God. Lets stop right there. Favor in hebrew is chen (pronounced khane the k is silent) chen also translates into GRACE. In the KJV GRACE is used in place of favor. So God extended GRACE to Noah. Great, that is awesome! But we still have other peaces to put together to figure out what saved Noah and his family. God showed favor (GRACE) on Noah now its is on Noah to take hold of that Grace. We will cover that tomorrow in part 2!

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 12/29/15 The Next Step

the new mc banner

5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. 6 Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. – Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT

Hello family, This time last year my life looked totally different. Last year this time i was contemplating embarking on a mission to get the Position i currently have. This process took the better half of 2015 i was not in the job position when i had planned it, there were many ups and down. Times that i wanted to quit But God keep pushing me to pursue this goal! And one year later that goal is more than accomplished. It is far beyond what i could ever dream up. Now i stand on the edge of another year and i am asking God Whats Next?

He has given me what is next. This next step is somewhat overdue, and a few of you who have asked about it. This next step God has placed before me can no longer go ignored. i must act on it. For those of you that don know i am an author, i wrote my first book “It’s Not Over: Poems For The storm” back in 2011. I knew God had placed multiple books in me it was a matter of when they would come out. In 2016 my next step is to publish my second book and Morning Coffee Devotions first devotional book.

To be honest this book is a leap of faith for me. God is not having me put it together the way i put together my last book. He is pushing me to step it up a notch and it is a little uncomfortable. But this is where God wants, me out in the deep with my feet unable to touch the ocean floor. My understanding will not get the job done my prior self publishing experience will not be enough. I am fully relying on God to get me through this i has no other choice but to trust him in taking this next step!

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 12/28/15 Think Audacious!

the new mc banner

11 O Lord, please hear my prayer! Listen to the prayers of those of us who delight in honoring you. Please grant me success today by making the king favorable to me. Put it into his heart to be kind to me.” In those days I was the king’s cup-bearer. – Nehemiah 1:11 NLT

Hello family, The above scripture is apart of Nehemiah’s prayer that the Lord will give him favor with the king of babylon that he would be granted permission to go and rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. The task he was about to under take was by no means easy or quick. it was a very audacious under taking. God gave Nehemiah favor with the king of babylon and eventually rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem.

Audacious: showing a willingness to take surprisingly bold risks. Showing an impudent lack of respect. This is the definition of audacious, I particularly like the second definition. Why? Because as we walk in the footsteps of Christ we will have to be audacious. We will have to go against the grain. Just look at Jesus life on this earth, he rubbed a whole lot of people the wrong way. But even with all the persecution He still accomplished His mission in providing a sacrifice for the sins of the world.

Debbie Sterling founder of Goldieblox, was engineering major in college and was disappointed at the lack of women in the class. After graduating she went on a mission to figure out how to get more girls interested in engineering. She came up with Goldieblox a engineering kit geared specifically for girls. At first she was meet with a lot of opposition and nay sayers But she never quit! And because of that she is now in stores like Toys”R”Us.

Family, whatever desire, whatever ministry God placed in you, it will require you to be audacious! That thing will not come to past by just doing enough to get by. There is something burning within you now and you have sat on it because you have not stepped out to where God is calling you! You want to step out but you look at the circumstances surrounding you and retreat when God is saying attack! Trust God! Your feet may not be able to touch the ocean floor but that is where He want us, not leaning on our own understanding but all our way looking to Him for everything!

Much Love & God Bless

1 A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. 2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. – Psalm 24:1-2 NLT

25 Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. – Psalm 37:25 NLT

Hello family, When fear strikes look unto the hills where you help comes from. Do fret for He is with you! Be still and know that He is God! When the Israelites were hemmed in at the shores of the red sea by pharos army, Moses said to them “Don’t be afraid. Just stand still and watch the LORD rescue you today. The Egyptians you see today will never be seen again. – Exodus 14:13 NLT” He will see you through every trial. why? Because you are His and you are apart of His master plan. He really is working in every aspect of your life.

Morning Coffee 12/24/15 And The Fullness There Of Pt 2

25 Once I was young, and now I am old. Yet I have never seen the godly abandoned or their children begging for bread. – Psalm 37:25 NLT

Hello family, Psalm 37:25 is the second scripture God bought to my mind during my worship time. As i read it, unbelievable peace and comfort surrounded me, motivating me to worship more. As I reflected through my life i saw that God provide every need in the high and low moments. He was there every step of the way even when i didn’t see it. It was a mini “footprints in the sand” moment.

Yesterdays devotion ended with a series of questions. “Will He not also take care of what is His? Does He not provide for you? Aren’t you His child?” Good earthly parents provide for all their child’s need (and some wants). A lot of that providing is behind the scenes, away from the awareness of the child. Some times that child may be concerned and “ask where are we going?” And the parent will answer something like “you will see.” At that point the sit back and see or ask again only to get the same answer.

We some times do the something to God. We ask a second or third time because we are not in control and cant see whats ahead. Has God ever lead you wrong? Has He ever abandoned you and left you for dead? No! It may seem like it but he is working in the background working out what we cant see. In these situations where we can see or the situation is challenging what we should ask is “Lord what do you want me to learn and see about myself here where you have me now?”

Much Love & God Bless

1 A psalm of David. The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. 2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. – Psalm 24:1-2 NLT

Hello family, Over the pass two days a situation at my place of work has been preventing me from working the hours i was scheduled to work. On this second day i was left with the choice of getting upset over something that was out of my hands or putting my self aside and worship God in spite of my situation.

In the midst of my worship God bought the above scripture to my mind. “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it”. Sometimes we don’t full grasp the fact that we own nothing and that we are just stewards over the things God gives us. The phone or computer you are using to read this devotion belongs to God. Everything you have before you, all of your possessions came from the elements of this planet. Who made the elements? God did. so He owns it, no matter what form its in.

Now since he Owns it, does he not have full right to do has He pleases with it? Will He not also take care of what is His? Does He not provide for you? Aren’t you His child?  Part two is tomorrow but think on these questions through out your day let God speak to you about them.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 12/22/15 Let God Fight or You Can Fight

15 He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the LORD says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. – 2 Chronicles 20:15 NLT

Hello family, I had some situations arise that were out of my control all during the day the situation weighed on me. I wanted to fix it well i didn’t fix it i only made things worse. God said “let me handle it” And only now do i see that i could have done other things on my to do list instead of trying to fix what i could not.

All too often we go in swinging when God says “no sit in the corner and drink Gatorade and put your energy else where.” When i wake up i will look at the situation and say ok God you got it what do you want me to do or not do? One thing we can do is take a deep breath and remember God got it!!! He created the universe,He can definitely handle our little situation!

Morning Coffee Revisited: 12/27/14 It Will Come In Due Time

“There is a time for everything,  and a season for every activity under the heavens:     a time to be born and a time to die,  a time to plant and a time to uproot,     a time to kill and a time to heal,  a time to tear down and a time to build,     a time to weep and a time to laugh,  a time to mourn and a time to dance,     a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,  a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,     a time to search and a time to give up,  a time to keep and a time to throw away,     a time to tear and a time to mend,  a time to be silent and a time to speak,     a time to love and a time to hate,  a time for war and a time for peace.” (Ecclesiastes 3;1-8 NIV)

Hello family! I am back with a fresh brew of morning coffee. My family and I have moved to our new home and I am now writing to you from my new room/office which I call Legacy 51.

This house that God has blessed us with has been nine years in the making. This home was a desire of my mom since the first day we moved to Georgia in 2005. My dad could not make the move with us until his job transferred him. In 2008 he was transferred down (that is a testimony in itself!) Our family was reunited but we lacked the true home my mom desired. For nine years 2005-2014 we lived in a two bedroom apartment. It was nice, great neighborhood but we knew God had greater for us. And finally we have it!

This move is so much more than just getting a house. It getting a Home, It a family that was once broken now made whole, It each of us operating in and growing in the ministries God has given us. There is so much more to this story that I don’t have time to tell. Take this one thing from this testimony. That dream, that hope, that thing that God told you that you will have. Its coming it has a set time to happen. Until it happens stay faithful, keep believing for it. Don’t let doubt cause you to be disobedient. It Will Come In Due Time.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee Revisited 10/4/14 In The Zone

“After the death of Moses the servant of the  Lord, the  Lord  said to Joshua son of Nun, Moses’ aide:  “Moses my servant is dead. Now then, you and all these people, get ready to cross the Jordan River into the land I am about to give to them—to the Israelites.  I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.  Your territory will extend from the desert to Lebanon, and from the great river, the Euphrates—all the Hittite country—to the Mediterranean Sea in the west.  No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you.  Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them.     “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.  Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.  Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the  Lord  your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:1-9 NIV)

I’m sure we all have heard and/or used the term “in the zone.” Especially in sports when an athlete or team is performing exceptionally well. When Joshua became leader of the Israelites, they got in the zone! Joshua and Caleb kept the nation of Israel in line with God. Yes, some mistakes were made, but even with those mistakes God turned it for their good because they were walking in obedience to God.

Read Joshua chapter ten through twelve, it’s the graveyard of fallen kings and kingdoms. The Israelites defeat kingdom after kingdom, tallying up a winning streak that would make King David prayed! They were so in line with God that during one particular battle found in chapter ten, God stopped the solar system so they could win the battle.

When we get in the zone with God, we are unstoppable! When we fall in line with His plan and we are in obedience to Him, awesome things happen. Get in the zone with God!
