“When Jesus noticed that all who had come to the dinner were trying to sit in the seats of honor near the head of the table, he gave them this advice: “When you are invited to a wedding feast, don’t sit in the seat of honor. What if someone who is more distinguished than you has also been invited? The host will come and say, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then you will be embarrassed, and you will have to take whatever seat is left at the foot of the table! “Instead, take the lowest place at the foot of the table. Then when your host sees you, he will come and say, ‘Friend, we have a better place for you!’ Then you will be honored in front of all the other guests. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” (Luke 14:7 NLT)
Hello, family, this past week I lived this passage of scripture. A family friend (Ms. T) wanted me to help design a sign for their business partners (Mr. H) exhibit at the mall. I agreed to do it as a favor. When we arrived at the mall there was another man (we will call him Jim) there whom we did not expect to be there. He did graphics as well. But he was trying to take control. He was trying to tell me what he was going to do for Mr. H. He just simply wanted to do what he wanted to do. Jim left and finally Ms. T, Mr. H and I sat down to discuss what he wanted. A few days later Mr. H requested me back at the exhibit I had started the design so I showed him what I did. He told me the changes he wanted and since I was going to be there all day I did the work on the spot. He loved what I did and approved the work. Then he took things to the next level. He told Ms. T a position and job description for a graphic designer for his exhibit. He look at me and said I want you as my Graphic designer, later for that other guy! I like you and I want to keep working with you! Wow! This man has only met me twice before he barely knows me. But he is making me a part of his team! Wow! I just came in and did what I was asked to do nothing more nothing less.
I came in for what I thought would be a one-time deal but God stepped in and I got elevated and Jim got demoted. When invited to a circle do your job in that circle don’t try and take it over! You will find yourself out of the circle.
Much Love & God Bless
