Hello Family! We are out of one series and into another. So put your spiritual ears and on, you favorite beverage and lets dive into what God has for us!
There are rewards (crowns) waiting for us in eternity. But they are not given out freely. We must fulfill the requirements for these crowns. Just as the great athletes train intensively to win the medals, it is the same with us. We must train and condition ourselves in order to receive these crowns.
“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win! All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize. So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing. I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NLT)
We are just passing through this world but while we are passing through, we are called to follow the example that Christ set for us. Yes this will require 100% of us, yes we will have to give up things we hold dear and there will be love ones that are close to us that won’t support us as we follow Christ. We will have to deny our self pleasures of this world. Athletes don’t live the life we live, they have a disciplined regiment. If they want to get that championship ring they must go through the process that will get them that ring. They don’t come home from a 9 to 5 job there are many months spent away from family and friends, all to gain that prize that they so desire.
Now apply this to our life. There are many temptations that will call for our attention, and our fleshly body will desire these things but they will not benefit us in our spiritual walk. Therefore we must deny our self these things. Whatever that thing is that pulls on you and draws you away from God, lust not just sexual lust but lust after the things of this world, lying, shopping sprees, gossiping, alcoholic drink etc the list can go on. Our goal should be placed in eternity and not hear on this earth. When we take a stand against those things that so easily brings us down, we will be striving toward that crown of victory. As Paul said these crowns will never fade.
Family, aim for your crown of victory! Cut loose and take a stand against whatever sin tempts you, no it won’t be easy. But you can stand when that temptation comes knocking. Tame your body and mind. Run with endurance for your crown of Victory!
Much Love & God Bless
