Morning Coffee 8/2/15 A Matter Of The Heart Pt1

“It was by faith that Abel brought a more acceptable offering to God than Cain did. Abel’s offering gave evidence that he was a righteous man, and God showed his approval of his gifts. Although Abel is long dead, he still speaks to us by his example of faith.” (Hebrews 11:4 NLT)

Hello, Family, I have always wondered why God did not accept Cain’s offering of fruits and vegetables’. But accepted Abel’s blood sacrifice. It is a matter of the heart.

We know God does not Just do things willy nilly. There is an order and direction that. Must be followed. There must have been some instruction some direction given to Cain and Able. About they need to bring their sacrifice. The opening scripture says by FAITH Abel brought his sacrifice to God.

When we walk by faith we seek God we look and act on his direction. But how did Able get faith? “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” (Romans 10:17 NKJV) Cain and able may not have had Gods written word, but I’m sure He spoke to them. No place in the bible does God say “Oh just throw something together and see what happens” No! God is about direction and order. When acting in Faith we will obey Gods direction.

Don’t miss part 2 tomorrow.

Much Love & God Bless

  1. I’ve also heard the thought that, since the Garden of Eden when God shed blood to cover Adam & Eve’s sin, a blood sacrifice has been required to atone for sin — a theme running all through scripture, pointing to Christ. Since Cain didn’t bring a sacrifice that involved the shedding of blood, his offering wasn’t accepted.

This makes sense to me, yet I don’t disagree with your explanation; I’ve heard that one often, too. This other I heard only once. And since I wasn’t there at the time to ask God about it, I’m not going to claim any deep knowledge of His reasons. 🙂

    • This is one story that always stuck in my head ever since here in the Cain and Abel story as a child always wondered why Cain’s sacrifice was not accepted. The explanation of my father gave me didn’t break it down to me so I finally got down to study it
