It’s Wednesday! By Brandon Sawyer

It’s Wednesday! By Brandon Sawyer

A little boy is doing his home work, the smell of clorox is in the air.
The the scent is soon followed by the sound of a man named Ron Kenoly.
This awesome combination can only mean one thing!

It is Wednesday! Its almost time for Acts 2 bible study.
You see from birth this child was taught that worship is not just for Sunday
He was taught let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

His heart filled with joy as he made his way downstairs.
The song that had filled the house now fill him up
sing a rejoicing with anticipation of the fellowship soon to come

This was a gathering only rivaled by thanksgiving.
It’s Wednesday! Time for fellowship family and fun!
At that moment nothing extinguish the atmosphere

It’s Wednesday! The boy knew that God himself ordained this moment
and he loved it! Twenty plus years later when he hears a song from that Ron kenoly cd, The boy now a 29 year old young man still flashes back
With a heart full of praise and joy and maybe a hint of clorox scent remaining from years gone by. breaks out into dance and sing to God with all that is within him!

“Let everything that has breath praise the Lord”

This album helped lay the foundation for who i am today.
please. listen to it while you drive, clean, study or whatever.
I promise you it will bless you!

Morning Coffee 7/31/15 Repentance Pt3

mc

Repent:”to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life”

“Purify me from my sins, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow. Oh, give me back my joy again; you have broken me—now let me rejoice. Don’t keep looking at my sins. Remove the stain of my guilt. Create in me a clean heart, O God. Renew a loyal spirit within me. Do not banish me from your presence, and don’t take your Holy Spirit[d] from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.” (Psalm 51:4-6 NLT)

Hello Family, restoration! That is what David is asking for, he has seen the error of his ways and now he is asking for restoration. This is the difference between David and Saul when Saul had sinned against God when he disobeyed God’s orders to completely wipe out the Amalekites, his (Saul) heart was not seeking to please God. There was no true repentance. His heart was concerned with looking good in front of the people. And because of that Saul did not get restoration, it was a downward spiral from that point until his death.

Repentance is all about where your heart is. God saw That David’s motives  for restoration were pure, true and not self-centered. Only after repentance can we pick up where we left off and continue to walk out this path God called us to. We will cover that tomorrow

Draw The Line by Brandon Sawyer

How long will you keep this up?
You see where this road leads.
So where will you draw the line?

You have been shown glimpses
of who you can be!
if only you would open your eyes and see!

How long will you pursue this illusion?
when will you draw the line and stop
your rapid decline?

The grave awaits with its mouth open wide,
when it catches you there will be no
place to hide!

So where will you draw the line?
Will you continue down this
road till the end of time?

Or will you stop and take hold
of Christ the TRUE VINE?
DRAW THE LINE!!!

Morning Coffee 7/30/15 Repentance Pt2

Repent:”to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life”

“Against you, and you alone, have I sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. You will be proved right in what you say, and your judgment against me is just. For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there.” (Psalm 51:4-6 NLT)

Hello Family, When we sin we are ultimately sinning against God. Let that sink in for a sec. Our ultimate offence is against God. And so whatever repercussions He allows is justified. We have sinned against the king of kings and Lord of lords. But he is merciful he could have wiped David out, but he didn’t.the repercussions did bring turmoil to Davids house, but it didn’t wipe him out.

I love verse six of the scripture. “For I was born a sinner—yes, from the moment my mother conceived me. But you desire honesty from the womb, teaching me wisdom even there.” (Psalm 51:6 NLT) David admits he had a heart that was infected with sin even from conception. But he does not use it as an excuse. We have all done this at some point. When we mess up we say something like, “I’m only human” or “nobody is perfect”. While this may be true God still desires us to be honest and to make every effort to peruse His righteousness.

So let pursue His righteousness with our whole heart!

Part 3 tomorrow.

Morning Coffee 7/29/15 Repentance Pt1

Repent:”to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one’s life”

“Have mercy on me, O God, because of your unfailing love. Because of your great compassion, blot out the stain of my sins. Wash me clean from my guilt. Purify me from my sin. For I recognize my rebellion; it haunts me day and night.” (Psalm 51:1-3 NLT)

Hello, Family, we are going to be in psalm 51 for the next few days. So grab your favorite beverage and let’s dig in. This Psalm is regarding when Nathan the prophet came to David after he slept with Bathsheba. David lays his heart on the table. He truly wants to make things right with God.

Over the past week, God has shown me some things in need to repent for. Not just feel sorry for it but to make a change! To come to God and let Him show me what I need to change. And I truly will pursue God so I can make these changes.

God shows us our error so we see where we really are. If we do not recognize the things wrong in us we will destroy ourselves. But that is why we have the Holy Spirt (in David’s case God sent the prophet Nathan) to convict us of when we are going astray. And until we respond to that conviction our sins will haunt us day and night!

Part 2 tomorrow

Morning Coffee 7/28/15 Not All doom and Gloom

“And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.” 6 And he also said, “It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega—the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. 7 All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children.” (Revelation 22:5-7 NLT)

Hello Family, all too often when we think about the book of Revelation our thoughts instantly go to doomsday mode. We focus so much on the destruction that we miss the LIFE that God put in it.

Yes, there is death and destruction. If you are a follower of Christ, if you have submitted your life to Him and confessed Him has Lord of your life. And remained faithful to Him. You do not need to fret about the doom and gloom. But you do need to know about it! So study it! Grab a study buddy a cup of coffee and ask the Lord to help you take in all that Revelation has to offer.

Morning Coffee 7/26/15 Why Do You Run? Pt3

mc

“Hear me as I pray, O Lord. Be merciful and answer me! My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation! Even if my father and mother abandon me, the Lord will hold me close.” (Psalm 27:7-10 NLT)

Hello, Family, My heart has heard you say, “Come and talk with me.” And my heart responds, “Lord, I am coming.” God those word to get my attention and spark this series. Those words even now grab hold of my heart and tug on it. And I have to respond, I have to return to my place of refuge and comfort. Our heavenly father is saying to some of you “come and talk with me.” He wants to put some things in order in your life! He wants to fill you up where you are empty! He wants to give you instruction on how to manage the issues you are having. Just come HOME and you will find all of this.

Morning Coffee 7/26/15 Why Do You Run? Pt2

mc

“The one thing I ask of the Lord—the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, delighting in the Lord’s perfections and meditating in his Temple. For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock. Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me. At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the Lord with music.” (Psalm 27:5-6 NLT)

Hello, Family, When adult children get into trouble or when the frustrations of life seen too much where do they turn? They (if they can) call of go to their parent house. This is the place where our first lessons were taught. Where we got a good meal from mom. This is where many of us turn to when life has thrown us a curve ball and we need advice on how to handle it.

Well, Gods presence is that place we know we can always run to. God presence is Home for us, it’s a place of refueling, a place of learning, and a place of comfort. So why avoid it? Why not make it a priority? Why not make it the first place we turn to in good times and bad?

We let stuff get in the way! When I truly seek His presence I end up not wanting to leave. I want God to just freeze time forever because the peace and strength I receive is indescribable. I wish my coffee cup never ran dry so I can keep taking in what God is explaining to me about what I’m reading in His word.

Family, the presence of God is HOME for us. For some of us it’s been a while since we truly knocked on the door or called HOME. Make Gods Presence a place you don’t want to rush to leave.

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—so why should I be afraid? The Lord is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble? When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall. Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid. Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.” (2 Psalm 27:1-3 NLT)

Hello Family, from January of 2007 to January of 2008, is was in Teen Challenge which is basically a God base rehab. I went there because of an addiction to pornography. In that year span, I was cut off from all media. No computer, phone, iPod or anything we had limited tv. But that was a good thing because it forced me to spend my free time with God. There were two houses that we used and each house had a spot I always went to for my time with God. Let me tell you those times were some of the most revealing experiences with God. And now seven years later God is calling me back (not to Teen Challenge) but to that level of quality time with Him.

In Psalm 27 King David lays out why purposed quality time with God is important. The Lord is going to always be there when we need Him. When persecution comes we will have no choice but to run to God! There are going to be times when the smooth jazz music does not help, there will be times when the self-help books won’t do! There will be times when the tv preachers won’t give you enough strength. There will be times when morning coffee devotions is not good enough!

Everything else will fail and there will only be God waiting for you to submit and soak in His presence. God is calling me back to those awesome times had with Him in teen challenge. Now I (Brandon Sawyer) must make time and make it PRIORITY to get with my heavenly Father!

Morning Coffee 7/24/15 Gotta Get It ALL!!! Pt2

mc

“Some time later King Jehoshaphat of Judah made an alliance with King Ahaziah of Israel, who was very wicked. Together they built a fleet of trading ships at the port of Ezion-geber. Then Eliezer son of Dodavahu from Mareshah prophesied against Jehoshaphat. He said, “Because you have allied yourself with King Ahaziah, the Lord will destroy your work.” So the ships met with disaster and never put out to sea.” (2 Chronicles 20:35-37 NLT)

Hello, Family, King Jehoshaphat had the nation of Israel riding the fence. He followed God, but there were remnants of false gods still in Judah. This prevented the nation from fully turning to God. Jehoshaphat made a poor choice, he made an alliance with a wicked king. God was not happy and caused his (Jehoshaphat’s) plans to fail.

What if Jehoshaphat had eliminated all the shrines to the false gods? How prosperous Judah could have been if Jehoshaphat had turned the nation a hundred percent toward God? Family, we can no longer afford to piecemeal God. That last little shred of your old life must be taken out otherwise it will remain and you will not operate a hundred percent capacity. Gotta get it all!
