Inspirations From The Porch: So What (I Am Me!) By Brandon Sawyer (APoetsHeart51)

So What! (I Am Me!)

So what if I don’t think like you!

So what if I don’t think or do what you do!

I am not you! Yes! I admit I am a bit of an old soul.

I will use the game room for my quiet time just because it has the most sunlight.

So What! This is me! YesI will use the armchair in the corner. Why you ask?

Because it suits me, that is my little slice of paradise! Yes I wear hooded jackets

jackets 90% of the time, this is me! And if it offends you that I wear them that is

your problem not mine! As long as I am on God’s green earth I will do me!

So what if I am not like you! So what if I don’t do what you do! I am me

and I will continue to be me! You don’t like it? Tough cookies I will not

change for your peace of mind! I will always continue to be who God

made me to be! I am me!

A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you will still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the body armor of God’s righteousness. For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. (Ephesians 6:10-18 NLT)

Hello, family. The shoes of peace! Think on that for a second, when we have peace about something there is no fear! We will walk forward no matter what challenges or danger lay ahead. We would not dare go hiking up a mountain barefoot! We would not get very far, eventually we would turn back. Paul definitely wore shoes of peace (military boot shoes of peace). Death threats, prison, nothing stopped him from preaching the good news of Christ. When we stand in the peace that we get when we turn our lives over to Christ, we are unstoppable. When God sends us on a mission we have nothing to fear! Our fellow believers who have been killed by ISIS stood defiantly against their captors. Because they knew that Christ is so much greater than their present situation. We win! Through Christ, we have the final and ultimate victory! Put on your Military boots of peace and carry out the orders that God gives you!

“Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” (Psalm 23:4 KJV)

Hello, family. The breastplate covers the torso, back and chest of a soldier. It protects all of the vital organs. Why righteousness as the breastplate? God righteousness covers us! When we keep pursuing Him and following his commands we are walking in righteousness. When we sin we have to repent and continue perusing God. God’s righteousness will shield us from harm. When we decide we can provide our own righteousness (we can’t), we will run into trouble. Because our righteousness is nothing more than filthy rags to God. God set a standard for us to follow, that standard will keep us safe. Remember the story of the prodigal son (Luke 15)? When the son decided he was “bad all by himself”, he stepped out from the protection of his father, he forgot all about the standards his father gave him. When he was at his lowest and was beaten only then did he run back to his father.

Why step out of God’s righteousness, why take off the very thing that is helping to keep you from being wiped out! Without God’s righteousness, you are giving the enemy a clean shot at your heart! Pride, dishonesty and a whole bunch of other mess can easily take hold of you, just a look at King Saul! With the breastplate of God’s righteousness, we can block the temptations to go against God, because we know where God wants us. We will be right there with him doing what he wants us to do and not some place over yonder waiting to be sniped out by the enemy!

Much Love & God Bless

Hello, family. We have covered the armor of God a few times. But God has led me back to it. We are going to be here for the next few days, going through the armor of God piece by piece. Each piece is required, we cannot go into battle unprepared! So grab your favorite beverage and let’s dig in.

The belt of truth! Why not the belt of righteousness or faith? If something is not true, it has no validity, there is no foundation for it. The belt keeps the other pieces of the armor together it also held the sheath for the sword. We can even apply it in today’s terms. If I walked up to you and removed your belt your clothing would begin to come undone. Why? Because I removed the foundation that holds your clothes together. God’s word is true, we can stake our life on it (if you don’t you are not a follower of Christ). God cannot be proven false! “God is not a man, so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Has he ever spoken and failed to act? Has he ever promised and not carried it through?” (Numbers 23:19 NLT)

The belt of truth! Put it on knowing it will not fail you in times of battle. You will not be undone by the attacks of the enemy! When someone comes to you with some twisted doctrine you can shoot it down because you have been girded up with the truth!

Morning Coffee 3/28/15 Counterfeit

Next the devil took him to the peak of a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory. 9 “I will give it all to you,” he said, “if you will kneel down and worship me.” “Get out of here, Satan,” Jesus told him. “For the Scriptures say, ‘You must worship the Lord your God and serve only him. Then the devil went away, and angels came and took care of Jesus. (Matthew 4:8-11 NLT)

Hello, family. Satan offers counterfeits for anything that God will offer us! Satan tried to offer Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if he (Jesus) would worship him. Jesus took all power when he died and rose up from the grave. This world is pushing satisfaction now, get all you can however you can. You may be happy for a time, but it will soon fade. Christ offers us real Joy and satisfaction. They Joy that He gives us is a lasting joy, it extends beyond our life on this earth. The easy road may be easy, but its end is a fiery pit. “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell[a] is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way. But the gateway to life is very narrow and the road is difficult, and only a few ever find it.” (Matthew 7:13-14 NLT) Stay on the narrow road the end is worth it,  no counterfeits!

Morning Coffee 3/27/15 The Still Small Voice (More Than For Deep Stuff)

mc

Hello, family. My mother and I have learned a lesson the hard the way. (story 1) The holy spirit told me not to leave a bunch of banana peels in my room trash can. Fast-forward a few days and I ants have invaded my trash! I spend the better part of Sunday evening cleaning and killing and ants. I could have avoided all of that if I would have emptied the trash beforehand. (story 2) A few weeks ago my mom was going through her boxes and bins. She came across a book that the holy spirit told her to put aside. Fast-forward to today she took her closet apart looking for this book but could not find it.

The holy spirit does not just speak to us about deep stuff! He speaks to us about simple everyday life stuff as well. So listen to that still small voice when you hear it.

Morning Coffee 3/26/15 More Love Elsewhere?

mc

Hello, family. Where should Love be found the most? Should it be found on the basketball court with your friends? Or at an art class? Love should be found the most among followers of Christ! Where ever we are, and whomever we come in contact with should feel the love of God emitting from us! When a non-believer comes into our presence, they should not feel rejected or pushed out! No matter how long we are in contact with them they should walk away feeling that there was something different about us. Love should definitely be found in the places we gather on Sunday to worship God and receive the word. All too often I have heard stories of People coming to find love and hope in a church only to be pushed away by the people in the church because of what they have done or how they look. I am not saying this is in every church, but it does happen when it should not happen. “And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. The second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.” (Mark 12:30-31 NLT)

Morning Coffee 3/25/15 What Is The Rush?

Read 1 Corinthians 7

“I want you to be free from the concerns of this life. An unmarried man can spend his time doing the Lord’s work and thinking how to please him. But a married man has to think about his earthly responsibilities and how to please his wife. His interests are divided. In the same way, a woman who is no longer married or has never been married can be devoted to the Lord and holy in body and in spirit. But a married woman has to think about her earthly responsibilities and how to please her husband. I am saying this for your benefit, not to place restrictions on you. I want you to do whatever will help you serve the Lord best, with as few distractions as possible.” (1 Corinthians 7:33-35 NLT)

My fellow single brothers and sisters enjoy your time of being single. Do not look at this time in your life as a curse it is a blessing! Tune your ear to God and hear what He is speaking to you! If God has marriage written in the plan of your life it will happen at it’s appointed time. I am truly learning to love this time in my life. Yes, I do desire to be married but when God says the time is right! So this way my future wife and I can walk out the full purpose of our marriage. Don’t be like a child wishing and rushing away his/her childhood only to wish to go back when they are an adult because they did not appreciate the time they had as a child. Value the time you are single it is a gift!

Morning Coffee 3/24/15 Born To Stand Out

mc

“The angel of the lord appeared to Manoah’s wife and said, “Even though you have been unable to have children, you will soon become pregnant and give birth to a son. So be careful; you must not drink wine or any other alcoholic drink nor eat any forbidden food. You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and his hair must never be cut. For he will be dedicated to God as a Nazirite from birth. He will begin to rescue Israel from the Philistines.” (Judges 13:3-5 NLT)

“Hannah was in deep anguish, crying bitterly as she prayed to the lord. And she made this vow: “O lord of Heaven’s Armies, if you will look upon my sorrow and answer my prayer and give me a son, then I will give him back to you. He will be yours for his entire lifetime, and as a sign that he has been dedicated to the lord, his hair will never be cut.” (1 Samuel 1:10-11 NLT)

Hello, family. Samson and Samuel were set apart. They could not do as everyone else was doing, God had a purpose for them. Why try to fit in when you were born to stand out? Don’t be ashamed of the call that God has placed on your life! Don’t try to fight it you won’t win. You may not be the most popular person in school, true friends will be far and few between. You may feel like you are missing out! I promise you, you are not missing out on anything! Follow the path God has called you to! This world has nothing for you! Worried about being lonely? God will place not just friends, but brothers and sisters in your life that will build you up and help you stay on the path God has called you! Don’t try to blend in when you were born to stand out!

Much Love & God Bless
