“Someone came to Jesus with this question: “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” “Why ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. But to answer your question—if you want to receive eternal life, keep the commandments.” “Which ones?” the man asked. And Jesus replied: “‘You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. Honor your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself.’” “I’ve obeyed all these commandments,” the young man replied. “What else must I do?” Jesus told him, “If you want to be perfect, go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me.” But when the young man heard this, he went away sad, for he had many possessions. Then Jesus said to his disciples, “I tell you the truth, it is very hard for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. I’ll say it again—it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God!” (Matthew 19:16-24 NLT)
Hello Family! There is a song called For Your Glory written by Paul S. Morton. Several other gospel artist have done their own versions of the song. I was listening to the song and I really thought about what I truly means! We become willing to give up everything to pursue God! The rich man was so attached to his worldly possessions that he feared giving them up! It is more than just physical possessions we may have to give up. God will show us thing in our own self that need to go! How we act, speak, who we hang out with! When we choose to follow Christ we gave God full access to our life. He will start picking out things that is not of Him! This process is not always easy. There are deep rooted things that God will show us and we may find ourselves struggling to let go! But in order for us to be where He is, we have to let go! If we allow it to stay we will become stagnant and not move forward in our walk with God! So next time you hear the song for your glory know what you are singing.
“If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake, you will save it. And what do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul? Is anything worth more than your soul?” (Matthew 16:25-26 NLT)
