Morning Coffee 11/20/14 Too Good To Be True!

(Read 2 Kings 7)

”Elisha replied, “Listen to this message from the lord! This is what the  lord  says: By this time tomorrow in the markets of Samaria, six quarts of choice flour will cost only one piece of silver,  and twelve quarts of barley grain will cost only one piece of silver. ” The officer assisting the king said to the man of God, “That couldn’t happen even if the  lord  opened the windows of heaven!” But Elisha replied, “You will see it happen with your own eyes, but you won’t be able to eat any of it!” (2 Kings 7:1-2 NLT)

Good day family let me give you some back-story before we continue. Ben-hadad king of Aram has mobilized his army and is attacking Samaria. There is a famine in the land as a result of the attacks. Items that would be considered low value are selling for high prices. (Read 2 Kings chapter 6:24-25) Things are so bad that two mothers had agreed to eat their sons. One held up her end of the deal the other did not. So the first mother takes her issue to the king of Israel. When the king heard her story he tore his clothes in despair and put on sackcloth. He vowed to kill Elisha but the lord warned Elisha of what was coming. (Read 2 Kings 6:26-33)

The king’s servant does not believe what Elisha said. If you read on in chapter seven you will see that Elisha said comes true. The servant was so overwhelmed with the situation around him that he could not believe past what he saw. Sadly he was killed in the event that was meant to bless him. Family, don’t allow your situation to blind you from any blessings that will be coming your way. With God It is never too good to be true!

(Read 2 Kings 7)
