Morning Coffee 11/30/14 Eyes On The Prize (Five Crowns): Crown Of Rejoicing

cropped-mc.png

Hello Family! We are continuing our series on the five crowns that await us in eternity! The next crown is a crown of rejoicing.

” Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stay true to the Lord. I love you and long to see you, dear friends, for you are my joy and the crown I receive for my work.” (Philippians 4:1 NLT)

“Dear brothers and sisters, after we were separated from you for a little while (though our hearts never left you), we tried very hard to come back because of our intense longing to see you again.  We wanted very much to come to you, and I, Paul, tried again and again, but Satan prevented us.  After all, what gives us hope and joy, and what will be our proud reward and crown as we stand before our Lord Jesus when he returns? It is you!  Yes, you are our pride and joy.” (1 Thessalonians 4:17-20 NLT)

The gifts that God gives us are not for ourselves, the ministries (big or small) that God has placed us in are not just for ourselves. The gifts God gives us and ministries He places us in are for the benefit of others. No matter what our gifts are, or how big or small our ministry is, the ultimate goal should be to draw people to Christ, to bring them into the Kingdome of God. My mom is a preschool teacher, yes she teaches the mandatory curriculum but she also uses the short time she has these children to teach them to talk to God, that’s how they begin each day. She is planting seed in them my mom is not on a big pulpit preaching a sermon.  She is operating in the ministry God gave her, leading children to Christ. The lessons she taught will lay a Godly foundation in that child.  She is only adding to her crown of rejoicing.

Think about the parable of the talents (see Matthew 25:14-30). The good servants took what they were given then they multiplied it. They had fruit from their labor. And the master blessed them. But the lazy servant was cast out. You may not be a corner soap box preacher; you don’t have to be to draw people to Christ. Operate in the gifts and ministries god gave you. Be open and be ready for Him to use you. And when it is time for you to enter eternity, you will see all the lives that you impacted. So be open and eager to be used by God to minister to someone. Aim to take as many souls to heaven as you can. Don’t show up in heaven by yourself.

Much Love & God Bless

Words Of Worship: What Else Is There? By Brandon Sawyer (aka APoetsHeart51)

gmw

What else is there? When friends have left and family is not around.

What else is there? When you are all alone with your thoughts to torment you.

What else is there? When the waves of life are crashing down and you can’t keep your

feet on the ground. What else is there?………………… Who can possibly hear your crys?

Who will save you from destroying your self?

Who will be your shelter from the rain?

I’ll tell you who? I’ll tell you who else there is?

His is called the I Am. Jehovah Jireh, God My Provider.

Jehovah Nissi, The Lord My Banner, My Victory.

Jehovah Shalom, My Peace in the middle of the storm.

Jehovah Rophi, The  God Who Heals!

That is who else, God Almighty Himself!

He is What else! And That is More than Enough!

Morning Coffee 11/29/14 Eyes On The Prize (Five Crowns): Crown Of Victory

Hello Family! We are out of one series and into another. So put your spiritual ears and on, you favorite beverage and lets dive into what God has for us!

There are rewards (crowns) waiting for us in eternity. But they are not given out freely. We must fulfill the requirements for these crowns. Just as the great athletes train intensively to win the medals, it is the same with us. We must train and condition ourselves in order to receive these crowns.

“Don’t you realize that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize? So run to win!  All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.  So I run with purpose in every step. I am not just shadowboxing.  I discipline my body like an athlete, training it to do what it should. Otherwise, I fear that after preaching to others I myself might be disqualified.” (1 Corinthians 9:24-27 NLT)

We are just passing through this world but while we are passing through, we are called to follow the example that Christ set for us. Yes this will require 100% of us, yes we will have to give up things we hold dear and there will be love ones that are close to us that won’t support us as we follow Christ. We will have to deny our self pleasures of this world. Athletes don’t live the life we live, they have a disciplined regiment. If they want to get that championship ring they must go through the process that will get them that ring. They don’t come home from a 9 to 5 job there are many months spent away from family and friends, all to gain that prize that they so desire.

Now apply this to our life. There are many temptations that will call for our attention, and our fleshly body will desire these things but they will not benefit us in our spiritual walk. Therefore we must deny our self these things. Whatever that thing is that pulls on you and draws you away from God, lust not just sexual lust but lust after the things of this world, lying, shopping sprees, gossiping, alcoholic drink etc  the list can go on. Our goal should be placed in eternity and not hear on this earth. When we take a stand against those things that so easily brings us down, we will be striving toward that crown of victory. As Paul said these crowns will never fade.

Family, aim for your crown of victory! Cut loose and take a stand against whatever sin tempts you, no it won’t be easy. But you can stand when that temptation comes knocking. Tame your body and mind. Run with endurance for your crown of Victory!

Morning Coffee 11/28/14 One Gospel: Check the Source

cropped-mc.png

Hello Family! We are concluding the series One Gospel. So grab cup of coffee or your favorite beverage and get comfy.

“Dear brothers and sisters, I want you to understand that the gospel message I preach is not based on mere human reasoning.  I received my message from no human source, and no one taught me. Instead, I received it by direct revelation from Jesus Christ.” (Galatians 1:11-12 NLT)

Paul Is encouraging the Christians in Galatia to turn away from the false gospel that has twisted Gods word and lead them astray. The unique about Paul is that he received revelation of God’s word directly from Jesus Christ, there was no middle man (read Galatians 1:13-20)

When we hear a message that clams to be Of God, Go back and see if it lines up with scripture. Ask God to give you discernment, so you will be able see the error in a message that has twisted the truth. Just because that man or woman is ordained and has all the degrees does not mean what they are preaching and teach is in line with Scripture. Check this devotion you are reading with God’s word.  If you hear a message that is not of God, the Holy Spirit will let us know. Check the source of the message you are hearing or reading. Whether it be a morning coffee devotion or a full scale sermon, check the source!

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 11/27/14 One Gospel: Don’t Be Fooled

cropped-mc.png

Morning Coffee 11/27/14 One Gospel: Don’t Be Fooled

“I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who called you to himself through the loving mercy of Christ.  You are following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who deliberately twist the truth concerning Christ. Let God’s curse fall on anyone, including us or even an angel from heaven, who preaches a different kind of Good News than the one we preached to you.  I say again what we have said before: If anyone preaches any other Good News than the one you welcomed, let that person be cursed. Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant.” (Galatians 1:6-10 NLT)

Hello Family! We are at the start of another series; this one is titled One Gospel. So grab cup of coffee or your favorite beverage and get comfy.  We will be here in Galatians chapter 1 for a few days.

The Christians in Galatia were being lead astray by a false doctrine and Paul is encouraging them to open there eyes and see the false doctrine for what it really is. Christ did not shed His blood on the cross for us to be lead astray and follow some other false gospel. We have been set free when we received the good news of Christ. Why allow our self to be pulled away by any other teaching that is contrary to what God has taught us?

We must be vigilant. We cannot be haphazard about the Gospel of Christ. The enemy wants to derail us any way he can. When we listen to the sermons we hear on Sunday at church or on the TV or radio during the week we must line it up with the word of God. If we find that it is not in line and context with what Gods word says, it is a false teaching and is not based from the word of God.

Morning Coffee 11/26/14 An Atmosphere Of Praise

cropped-mc.png

God day family I pray you are well. I am living this devotion as I write it. A week ago I was spiritually battling a lot and God spoke through my mom. I needed to play worship music during the times that I knew there would be an attack or temptation. Well for the past hour I have be writing and nothing but worship and praise music is playing, the TV is off, there is nothing else in the house that is playing except the music playing from my laptop. All the heaviness that I felt melted off. And I felt the presence of God come in and shift the atmosphere.

Our minds can only focus on one thing at a time. We can’t feel sad and happy at the same. Got negative thoughts or fell weighed down by life? Put one some worship/ praise music, and create an atmosphere of praise!

Morning Coffee 11/25/14 Encourage Yourself

cropped-mc.png

“When David and his men saw the ruins and realized what had happened to their families, they wept until they could weep no more.  David’s two wives, Ahinoam from Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal from Carmel, were among those captured.  David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David found strength in the lord his God. Then he said to Abiathar the priest, “Bring me the ephod!” So Abiathar brought it.  Then David asked the lord, “Should I chase after this band of raiders? Will I catch them?” And the lord told him, “Yes, go after them. You will surely recover everything that was taken from you!” (1 Samuel 30:3-8 NLT)

Sometimes we can find our self in trying circumstances, and we are unable to find encouragement from the people or the environment around us. And will have no choice but to retreat to our prayer closet. We will have to God our ultimate source, the one who never fails. We cannot be moved by the situation around us. Do like David did, he got his motivation from God. Then sought the Lord for direction, then he Went and carried out those instruction with full confidence in God.

Family, when you do find yourself in adverse situations don’t get discouraged but be encouraged by your heavenly father, seek him, then go and carry out what he told you to do.

Much Love & God Bless

Morning Coffee 11/24/14 Picking Fights And Thinking You Are All That

cropped-mc.png

“Anyone who loves to quarrel loves sin; anyone who trusts in high walls invites disaster.” (Proverbs 17:19 NLT)

Hello family I hope you are well. God lead me to the scripture, when I read it, it spoke to me. When I was I kid I would sometimes stir up arguments with someone who was bothering me. I wanted them to feel how I felt so when they were leaving me alone I would annoy them and try to start an argument with them. When they walked away frustrated, and angry I felt justified. But it was wrong I had stooped to their level and did the exact opposite of what God wants. There is no justification for stirring up trouble, God does not operate in chaos or quarrels. The shoes of peace are a part of the armor of God (see Ephesians 6:15) so let us wear them and operate in them.

“Pride comes before the fall” This oh so true, if we accomplish something and them go around bragging on how good we are and how we think we are invincible. Think about goliath, a giant with great strength and skill, bought down by a Sheppard boy and stone. When we trust in our accomplishments and our self, a downfall is sure to follow.

“Anyone who loves to quarrel loves sin; anyone who trusts in high walls invites disaster.” (Proverbs 17:19 NLT)

Morning Coffee 11/23/14 A Thanksgiving Feast For Our Soul

cropped-mc.png

Morning Coffee 11/23/14  A Thanksgiving Feast For Our Soul

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.  Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works.  And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.”( Hebrews 10:23-25 NLT)

Hello family. For us in the United States, thanksgiving is a day when we gather together with family to feast and fellowship and give thanks. For most it is the largest meal of the year, a feast that leaves most of us immobilized by a full belly. But did you know that there is a feast of greater fulfillment that is available to us at least once a week at our local church or in a small cell group? It’s called bible study.

It is good we attend Sunday service where we are feed the word. But when we gather together with other believers and sit and study and discus Gods word, there is a rich spiritual buffet that is laid out for our spirit to feast on. When we gather together to dig deeper into God we will grow more. Because when we study Gods word together we can uplift each other. Through the Holy Spirit we will get deeper understanding of God’s word that we wouldn’t normally get from a Sunday sermon.

Nobody can grow in isolation, if we isolate our self, when tough times hit we won’t have the spiritual encouragement we get from other believers who more than likely have gone through or are going through the same thing we are going through. So I want to encourage you got to your churches bible study. If there is not one, talk to your pastor about starting one. If your church has small group bible studies in the homes of other fellow church members find one and go to it. And if God leads you, gather together a few other strong believers and start a weekly bible study. The point is to gather together with other believers, with the guidance of the Holy Spirit build each other up spiritually, because a time is coming when we will need to draw on the spiritual knowledge we gain when we study together with other believers in Christ. We make time for everything else, make time to get together and study and learn the word of God.

Much Love & God Bless
