Morning Coffee 10/20/14 Seeds!: Rocky Ground!

“The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.” (Matthew 13:18-19 NIV)

Hello family! We are continuing on in Matthew chapter thirteen the parable of the sower. If you are just joining us I encourage you if you haven’t already to go back and read the  devotions  before this one. I will provide links to them at the bottom.

The seed on rocky ground, this is the seed that is received by the person their spiritual eyes and ears are open and they gladly receive the word of God. But when all the excitement and wonder fades, and test and trials come, they fall away because they have little or no root.

When we accept Christ into our life we are redeemed and our sins are forgiven. But that does not mean we can kick our feet up and relax just because we have fire insurance. God did not sacrifice His one and only son so we can sit around and do nothing spiritually speaking.

We have to study God’s word to continually  shape and mold our heart. We have to spend time with God, there are spiritually nourishing things that He wants to share with us. But if we don’t allow God to cultivate our heart we will fall away when persecution, and trials come. I was guilty of not growing deeper in God and his word. I didn’t study or spend time with God, God spoke through my uncle one day, he said to me how do you expect to grow in God, if you don’t spend time with him or read and study His word? From that point on I made an effort to study God’s word and spend time with Him. I have been growing deeper, ever since. Even now as I write this God is calling me even deeper. I know God will continue to shape and mold me and it won’t always feel good. But it is for the better because when the storms and trials come I will remain standing because my roots go deep into the word of God.

Let God cultivate you Don’t be the rock ground!

Much Love & God Bless
