Morning Coffee 9/10/14 Bold Faith!

mc

“Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre.  He didn’t want anyone to know which house he was staying in, but he couldn’t keep it a secret.  Right away a woman who had heard about him came and fell at his feet. Her little girl was possessed by an evil spirit,  and she begged him to cast out the demon from her daughter. Since she was a Gentile, born in Syrian Phoenicia, Jesus told her, “First I should feed the children—my own family, the Jews.  It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat the scraps from the children’s plates.” “Good answer!”  he said.  “Now go home, for the demon has left your daughter.”    And when she arrived home, she found her little girl lying quietly in bed, and the demon was gone.” (Mark 7:24-30 NLT)

Ok family lets break this down. A gentile (a person who is not a Jew) woman approached Jesus, fell at his feet and begged him to cast out the demon that had possessed her daughter. This is a bold move by this woman; Jews did not associate themselves with gentiles (non Jews). So for her to approach Jesus (a Jew) was out of the norm. Jesus then tests her faith by basically insulting her by comparing her to a dog. But this did not deter the woman, she responds by saying “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat the scraps from the children’s plates” (Mark 7:28) Jesus see her bold faith and heals the child. When the woman got home the demon was gone.

What can we pull from this? God will sometimes test our faith to see if we will hang in there and wait for our blessing. God does not always just hand us what we ask Him for. He wants our faith to grow so He will bring and occasional test so we can see where our faith is really at. Christ was not timid in his ministry he was bold! So let us be bold as well!

Much Love & God Bless
