“Answer me when I call to you, O God who declares me innocent. Free me from my troubles. Have mercy on me and hear my prayer. How long will you people ruin my reputation? How long will you make groundless accusations? How long will you continue your lies? Interlude You can be sure of this: The lord set apart the godly for himself. The lord will answer when I call to him. Don’t sin by letting anger control you. Think about it overnight and remain silent. Interlude Offer sacrifices in the right spirit, and trust the lord. (Psalm 4:1-5 NLT)
This psalm was written during the time David was fleeing from his son Absalom because he was rebelling against him. (see 2 Samuel 15:1-10) David was proclaiming how the Lord has protected him, and how God won’t fail when we trust in him. Even though Absalom and the rest of David’s enemies talked bad about him were after his life David did not take justice into his own hands. He didn’t let his anger get the best of him. He put his life in God’s hands. His conscience was clear and offered sacrifices to the Lord with the right spirit.
When people plot evil against you, let God have it! When they deceive you, Let God have it! Don’t take matters into you own hands it won’t turn out good. Don’t let you anger cause you to lose control. Whatever the situation is let God have it! He will take care of it better than you ever could.
Much Love & God Bless
