“Then Nehemiah the governor, Ezra the priest and teacher of the Law, and the Levites who were instructing the people said to them all, “This day is holy to the Lord your God. Do not mourn or weep.” For all the people had been weeping as they listened to the words of the Law. Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:9-10 NIV)
Imagine you and you and your family have come back to your home town after being in captivity for seventy years. You see the infrastructure rebuilt but much is still in shambles. You are basically starting over. That is the state the exiles returning from captivity in Babylon were in.
God may bring us out of a storm and put us in our rightful place, but because of the consequence of our disobedience we may find ourselves starting over. God has restored some basic infrastructure but it’s not what it once was. Things may not look good right now but they will get better.
God has given you a fresh start! Your Joy should not come from the temporal things, but from the Lord. He has given you a clean start. Rejoice, you are no longer in bondage. You have a brand new beginning. Go and make the most with what you have. Bless others who don’t have with what God has blessed you with. Don’t look at your physical state. Reflect on the times where God came through. Let you heart be filled with joy. God is with you and He has great plans for you! I leave you with this; “The Lord is the strength of his people, a fortress of salvation for his anointed one. Save your people and bless your inheritance; be their shepherd and carry them forever.” (Psalm 28:8-9 NIV)
Much Love & God Bless
